Smashing Pumpkins, "Siamese Dream" question?
I was wondering if the cd was released in both explicit, and edited versions? the main reason i ask is because my cd that i have (i just bought it recently), has no sticker, but the words "silver fuck" on the back (and there are no bad words in that song that i can hear.)
also, should i get "Melin coli..." as well?

Just because a song is called Silverfuck doesn't mean that there is going to be explicit language in it.

I would love to get a remaster of SD, but I'd only buy MCIS again if they turned the vocal down WAY WAY much.

pressing for wal-mart and other family friendly stores recieved versions with the title silverfox or silver****.
this also happened to the nirvana in utero album. the back cover was reworked to not show the fetuses, and the song rape me was retitled waif me. Cobain had tried to have it titled 'Sexually Assault Me'

Anybody who says Mellon Collie is not one of the best rock albums of the 90s hasn't listened to it all the way through. That CD is unbelievable. If you're basing your opinion on 1979 and Tonight, Tonight, then you are missing out on a lot of good music. There are at least 10 songs of pure genius on that album.

I was a huge Pumpkins fan back in the day and as such, loved MCIS--every single track. Listened to it dozens upon dozens of times for a good year or two after it came out. A while back, well out of my Pumpkins phase, I put it on again, and could barely get through it all. It's not that there's not good stuff on there; the problem is (like a lot of other double-albums) is that there's too much average (or even mediocre) stuff. Sure, hindsight is always 20/20, but if Billy would have been a little less self-indulgent and trimmed it down somewhat, it would have been right up there with SD as one of those rare, every-track-is-good, from-top-to-bottom records.
Here's my whittled-down version, if I were to make one. More than ten tracks--tried to keep it around the length of a blank CD:

Not bad. There's NO WAY you can leave off Fuck You and XYU though. TOASE and Beautiful have gotta go.
