Smashing Pumpkins, "Siamese Dream" question?

I was wondering if the cd was released in both explicit, and edited versions? the main reason i ask is because my cd that i have (i just bought it recently), has no sticker, but the words "silver fuck" on the back (and there are no bad words in that song that i can hear.)

also, should i get "Melin coli..." as well?

Just because a song is called Silverfuck doesn't mean that there is going to be explicit language in it.

Yes, you should buy Melon Collie....

Silverfuck lyrics

I hear your winter
I hear your rain
I've failed your summer ways
And I feel no pain

I hear what you want
And I feel that way
I hear what you want
And I feel that way

I hear you fade away
And I hear you crawl
I gave my life away
And I feel no pain
And I feel no pain
And I feel no pain
And I feel your pain

No edited version, although some later pressings have the fuck part **** out.

i also think that they should remaster both albums, since the greatest hits collection that i have sounds superior to the albums (but "Siamese dream" is great)

Do you really want to own an album called "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness"?

I have the original pressing of the Caroline Gish disc. I love the raw sound of it, much more so than the remaster.

I would love to get a remaster of SD, but I'd only buy MCIS again if they turned the vocal down WAY WAY much.

pressing for wal-mart and other family friendly stores recieved versions with the title silverfox or silver****.

this also happened to the nirvana in utero album. the back cover was reworked to not show the fetuses, and the song rape me was retitled waif me. Cobain had tried to have it titled 'Sexually Assault Me'

If it's one of the better rock albums to come out in the 90's, then yes.

I'm still waiting for you to post your "all killer, no filler" 10 track version.

Anybody who says Mellon Collie is not one of the best rock albums of the 90s hasn't listened to it all the way through. That CD is unbelievable. If you're basing your opinion on 1979 and Tonight, Tonight, then you are missing out on a lot of good music. There are at least 10 songs of pure genius on that album.

I was a huge Pumpkins fan back in the day and as such, loved MCIS--every single track. Listened to it dozens upon dozens of times for a good year or two after it came out. A while back, well out of my Pumpkins phase, I put it on again, and could barely get through it all. It's not that there's not good stuff on there; the problem is (like a lot of other double-albums) is that there's too much average (or even mediocre) stuff. Sure, hindsight is always 20/20, but if Billy would have been a little less self-indulgent and trimmed it down somewhat, it would have been right up there with SD as one of those rare, every-track-is-good, from-top-to-bottom records.

Here's my whittled-down version, if I were to make one. More than ten tracks--tried to keep it around the length of a blank CD:

01. Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
02. Tonight, Tonight
03. Jellybelly
04. Zero
05. Here is No Why
06. Bullet with Butterfly Wings
07. Galapogos
08. Muzzle
09. Porcelina of the Vast Oceans
10. Where Boys Fear to Tread
11. Bodies
12. Thirty-Three
13. 1979
14. Tales of a Scorched Earth
15. Thru the Eyes of Ruby
16. Beautiful
17. By Starlight

Leaving off:

To Forgive
Fuck You (An Ode to No One)
Love
Cupid de Locke
Take Me Down
In the Arms of Sleep
Stumbleine
X.Y.U.
We Only Come Out at Night
Lily (My One and Only)
Farewell and Goodnight

In your (very wrong) opinion.

Not bad. There's NO WAY you can leave off Fuck You and XYU though. TOASE and Beautiful have gotta go.
