Obsessed with the HP commercial!

OK I KNOW you all have seen this commercial...

"out of the picture....out of the frame....and now when you see me...nothing's the same!" Can't get that song out of my head.

The guy sits down and starts putting frames in front of his head and they freeze. Just love it.

Anyone else? Anyone know the name of the song in it?

I hate commercials, and I have Tivo, so I rarely see them.

But I do like this commercial. Very clever.

There are a couple commericials like this.

I believe the one you are thinking of features "Out of the Picture" by The Robins

The other one has "Picture Book" by The Kinks

YUP! That's it. It's actually the only one I've seen. Every time I tell someone about it, they say there are others but I've never seen them. That actor must me making a HELLUVA lot of money...and he's even oddly attractive the more times I see it. I wonder if it will win any of those commercial awards.
Lately, the commercials are more interesting and funny than the actual TV programs.

I love this commercial too, I don't really remember the music, but the concept is awesome.

I love the new VW Jetta commercial as well

Yes, the guy in the commercial is also the director. He just won awards for both commercials.

As a video/2d graphics person, I've been obsessed with the technique used in this commercial for a long time. I have yet to have an opportunity to try it, but I think I could come close to duplicating the effect.

The hard part would be duplicating how smoothly it is done. It's extremely creative and very visually interesting.

I've seen similar HP commercials too, and they are all pretty interesting to watch. There is this one with this lady grabbing random snap shots of people in the back ground that is kind of cool too. But the one with the guy is pretty interesting, the way he not only keeps grabbing snap shots of his own face, but also snap shots of the previous snap shots taken. Quite an inventive commercial.

It's too bad the exec that was responsible for this campaign was fired.

I think it was a she. I read it in the New York Daily News awhile back. The article mentioned that s/he brought in all types of musicians/pop culture icons in an efforts to keep up with Apple. They also mentioned the campaign that is the subject of DFNYC's obsession. I think the "party line" was not enough profits or something like that.
