Comcast left me an HD/DVR box with no manual...How to access dual tuners?
Do I have to switch between tuners to set recordings separately? My parents also have an HD box that is about a year old, but they can only seem to record or watch one show at a time. Just curious on the process. Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, it depends on the box, but look for a "SWAP" button on your remote. On my HD-PVR (its a Motorola), the SWAP button changes from one tuner to the next. When recording one show, you can use the SWAP button to change over to the tuner not involved in the recording process and change channels as desired without disturbing your recording. If you are recording TWO shows simultaneously, both tuners are occupied so you need to either have a seperate send to your tv and use its built in tuner or watch a previously recorded show on your DVR.
The above post is also correct. If you schedule two simultaneous recordings, the machine should automatically assign the recordings to the different tuners. If you try to record more than two simultaneous or overlapping recordings, the DVR should return an error message and ask your input as to which shows to actually record (on the Moto, the message is something like "This recording conflicts with a previously set recording" and then offers choices to keep the prior set recording or to delete the prior recording and allow the new recording to be set).

Just change the channel while you are recording something or record two shows at once. That's accessing the 2nd tuner, there isn't anything to read about regarding that.

Thanks for all the help. Whoever said it would just record whatever you have it set to was right, and that's fine. My signal apparently isn't strong enough for all the HD feeds, so they are coming on monday to install an amp. TNT, DSC, some of the networks are fine, espn, inhd, fox and wb are all messed up.
