The Thing, Dawn and DAY -- original release -- valuable?

Hey all,

I have the Original DVD releases of Dawn of the Dead (theatrical), Day Of The Dead, and The Thing (1982). Are any of these worth anything anymore? I now own the ultimate boxset for dawn, the 2 DVD divimax for DAY, and the New release of the Thing.....so unless they are valuable, i plan on getting rid of them...

Thanks,

Matt

I woudl get rid of the old release of The Thing, just because it's not anamorphic, features or not.

Only reason I kept the old copy of THE THING was because of the hidden soundtrack that was left off the re-release.

I'd never get rid of the isolated score on THE THING, especially considering the soundtrack CD has been out of print for years.

Soo... Other than the isolated score, is there any reason (value, collector's-wise) to hold on to the original release? I just want to make sure it's not worth $50 or anything like that.....

Thanks,

Matt

Not that I'm aware of... That said, keep your insert if you value that sort of thing, the new release is naked. You also might want to check the documentary... I don't recall if it had chapter stops or no stops and I haven't even bothered to check the new disc. The reason that I bring that up is the re-release of 12 Monkeys... The new version has no chapter stops on the documentary, the original CE does have the chapter stops.

Dawn - No reason to keep it.

Day - There's that bit about the missing or changed dialogue, I don't remember the story behind that one but you might want to see if you can dig it up with a search.

The new Day version has a few bits of changed dialogue...I think it was from a TV Cut? Anyway, but Dawn and Day are pretty much worthless now. If your interested in dumping your Day PM me, I don't have that version yet (I have a thing about collecting all versions of '...dead' movies.

Here's my trade list...
The Grudge - 1st release, includes the slipcover - $12
Twin Peaks - Fire Walk with Me - Sealed - $10
Saturday Night Fever - Slim, Digipack shiney version - $10
Big Fish - $8
The Dead Hate the Living - $7
Two Evil Eyes - L.E.#17776 - Case, 2 DVDs, Booklet) $15
Night at the Roxbury - Sealed - $8
