Is there an error in this forum? Why so many movie reviews?

It looks like 15 or so movie reviews have entered the rotation in this forum. Is this being done because the actual video game reviews are stopping or slowing down? Or is this an error in the forum software allowing movie reviews to come here? I know the video game forum is always the "guinea pig" for new ads so maybe we're being tested on something again. Just curious.

The only movie reviews I see in this forum are for the PSP UMDs.

He's talking about the "ad" in the top left under "game reviews."

I just refreshed several times and Joeblow is right, the only movie covers for review links coming up are for UMDs and that makes sense to have them here.

Oh, you're being tested all right. Tested to see if Sony can convince DVD lovers with home theaters and DVD collections numbering into the hundreds or thousands to pay $25 for movies that are only playable on a 5 inch screen.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!! Excellent, sir. Good job.

I still don't see how it makes sense to have them here, they're not video games. The sad part is that there are more of these being reviewed than actual video games recently, though I'm sure that has more to do with the review material they receive then anything.

They make more sense here because most members with PSPs probably read this forum a lot, so it probably generates more clicks than in say DVD Talk where most people don't know what they are or think they are absurd.

There have been many more UMD movies coming out then games - summer is always very slow for the fall build-up. Studios are seeing how well they are selling, so they are dumping their library on UMD to get some quick bucks.

Dude. Let's be politically correct, it's 4.3 inches.

I think it is pretty pointless to put movie reviews in the video game forum. There have been a lot of really good games come out like Meteos, Kirby Canvas Curse, god of war, but no reviews? but then again i don't come to this site for reviews or trust the reviews here, its the personal comments on the forum i look for.

yeah, i think there is some place for the psp movies here some of them differ in the extras than the real dvds, but the content of the movies is the same. maybe we can all start reviewing psp screen protectors next!

If those movies are only playable on a videogame console, it makes perfect sense to me.

Thanks.

We can only review the games that are sent to us.

I kinda figured thats how it goes, but still...

btw I wasn't dissing you , I respect your opinion, especially on the forum and always enjoy your posts, its just that there are so few reviews for video games here I never really click on any of them. and unfortunately now it looks even worse. i don't give a damn about dvd's i've already bought, i thought this was the forum for video games.

UMDs sort of throw a wrench in the works. IGN puts the DVD and UMD reviews together, and keeps the video games separate. As far as I can tell, GameSpot doesn't review them at all. While I appreciate the work that Jeff does to review them, a lot more UMDs are being released than video games. So, I dunno.

Basically what these guys said. Right now there are just more UMDs coming out than games and they are only playable on a gaming system so it makes sense that's where they'd be listed. Not many other sites even offer reviews for UMDs that I've seen so it seems natural that DVD Talk would cover them, since well, it's mainly a movie site .
