Is another edition of "Fantasia" in the works?
I was watching Fantasia 2000 over the weekend, and one of the segments eluded to the fact that Disney always envisioned this as a series of films, with new segments - given the success of the both Disney and IMAX (and it's been five years), are they any future plans to revisit and produce another edition of "Fantasia"?

I would love to see that happen. But Fantasia 2000 was really pushed through by Roy Disney. As far as I know he was the real champion behind that, and he's not really there anymore so I have little faith it'll be done. Especially since they've forsaken 2D. But maybe in the future.

Jaeufraser is right. Fantasia 2000 was a pet project of Roys. Roy was forced out the door two years ago. With Eisner leaving there is always hope in Igor(a little at any rate), but I doubt this is on his first things to do list.

I have to say Fantasia 2000 was one of my favorite movies. Visually stunning and evokes more emotion than the first IMO. I would really hope to get more of them but I seriously doubt it. I didn't know how it did in the theatres but if it tanked that bad then I doubt Disney would take a chance on another one. I think they are having trouble enough with their other projects.

I loved 2000, saw it at the IMAX (I did my part, ), but it could have used another number or two. It was very short.

(And after messing with Stravinsky's music by re-editing The Rite of Spring completely out-of-sequence in the 1st Fantasia, I thought Disney would've finally learned to show more respect for his music in the 60 years since.)
Also, why didn't they put into Fantasia 2000 the deleted Debussy's Claire de lune sequence that had been dropped from the original Fantasia? The animation was already completed and everything! I would've rather had it in the movie instead of The Sorcerer's Apprentice Redux.
(At least we did get Claire de lune as an extra on the DVD Set.)

There was going to be a Fantasia 2006, but it's been cancelled.
One short that was to be a part of it, "One by One," is on the more recent DVD of The Lion King II, and another called "Lorenzo the Cat" was shown theatrically with Raising Helen (but I don't think it's on the DVD).
