Need help choosing a DVD player that converts PAL to NTSC.

Hello, all.

I知 looking to start buying Region 2/PAL DVDs, with the up-coming release of the new Doctor Who series as a box set in November (as well as some other DVDs I need to get that are only region 2) and I知 having a hell of a time finding a DVD player that does good PAL to NTSC conversion and is region free.

The best I致e found thus far is the Oppo OPDV971H, but a lot of people tell me not to bother as I致e only got a regular TV and no DVI connection. I could care less about all the special features that come with DVI connection, I just want a high-quality PAL to NTSC conversion, and the review I致e read for this player says it has it.

Does anyone out there know of a more appropriate system that costs at or bellow $200.00? I知 pulling my hair out trying to find one.

Philips DVP642. It also plays DivX. Region hack is listed in that link.

It can be had from Circuit City for about $60. Cheaper online.

The Phillips 642 is the one most people mention, but I've read more than one retailer who has warned against buying it to play PAL DVDs because it only has a 2mb video converter in it, where as certain Pioneer models have 12mb video converters. And most sites refuse returns if the player has poor picture quality on an American TV.
