Region Problems

I have a machine that is about 3 years old and plays this movie I rented at a Russian movie rental store just fine, but when I try to play it on an older Sony machine, it just displays on the screen ( incorrect region ). Is there a fix for this issue ?

your machine may be "region free" rather than "multi region". many early adopters or buyers of foreign discs had to upgrade / replace their chip / player when region coding became mroe sophisticated, making "region free" players hit & miss. you may need to buy a multi-region player. the difference between the two is one tries to bypass the region coding, the other can cope with any code. theres also rare RCE (region code encrypted) discs that need a multi-region RCE-capable chip.
