Beauty & the Geek 6/15
The challenges this week were rather dull, with the exception of the swimsuit moldeling. The girls had to do the equivalent of a Jr high science class project.
Good to see Chuck make a move on Scarlet. She doesn't come off as being as full of herself as the rest.
Was really hoping Richard would be gone but he looks like he will make next weeks challenge hilarious

I actually am liking Mindi more and more. Even though she was really annoyed with Richard's antics, she was still sweet to him. Just before they went to the elimination contest, she showed him "spooning". Funny but at the same time, very cool of her.

I am going to miss Crystal. She was unbelieavably hot, and definitely looked the best in a bikini.
I just don't like Chuck. To me, he seems like he thinks he is above everyone else. And like I mentioned in the last thread, he seems smarmy to me.
I like Mindi as well. She seems like she would be pretty cool. The beer spokesmodel does nothing for me really. Can't remember her name right now.
I think that the show has been getting less and less entertaining as it goes on. The first show was hilarious, but I have been enjoying it less and less for some reason. Maybe because there doesn't seem to be anything new happening in the new episodes.
And really, who thinks that any of these chicks are going to end up with a geek in the long run?

The women's challenge just involved following instructions. The men's challenge would be tough for almost any man, not just "geeks." I had no idea on those fashion questions at the end either.
Next week looks to be pretty good:

And I wouldn't really call Richard's goodbye kiss to Crystal a real kiss. To me, he still hasn't kissed a girl. What about hello kisses? Do they count as well? Not to me they don't. A kiss has to be a sign of romantic attraction for it to count, IMO.

Heh heh. Okay. I'm not up on all the kissing "lingo."
Like Richard, I have never kissed a girl. (Outside of my family of course: mother, sisters, daughter, etc).

Mindi's sense of humor makes her even more attractive. Though she could work on her posture.
The lingerie model has an excellent body, but she is such a damn horse-face. Definitely the worst-looking girl there.
Krystal is sexy as hell.

I didn't know any of the fashion questions and the astronomy questions were so easy my 7 year old could have answered them. I took this off my Tivo season passes--it was okay to see a couple times, but not all that interesting.

The funny thing about the questions and challenges is the girls know more about what the guys have to do and answer then the guys know about what the girls have to answer.
Last week you got the sense the Dukes of Hazard guy was the only who knew anything about cars.

One thing I think would improve the show would be to get rid of the Survivor elimination rounds and the contest for the money. If it is a social experiment, take out the incentive to win money. I'd think it would be more interesting to see everyone stay and interact.

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) And the Geek shall inherit -- well, maybe not the Earth, but at least another piece of television real estate.
The WB has ordered a second installment of its summer breakout "Beauty and the Geek," which has proved a big winner among the network's core audience. The second cycle -- which will have eight episodes, up from six -- will air sometime during the 2005-06 season.
"'Beauty and the Geek' is a big win for The WB and our alternative programming team, and I couldn't be prouder to order a second cycle of what has become our signature reality franchise," says David Janollari, president of WB Entertainment. "[Creators Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg] have once again proven that they know exactly what the young adult audience is looking for in the reality arena."
Goldberg, who also masterminds MTV's "Punk'd" with Kutcher, says their company, Katalyst, has already received "thousands" of requests to appear on the next installment of the show and promises "a huge leap creatively" for the second season.
"Beauty and the Geek," which pairs smart-but-socially-awkward guys and pretty-but-intellectually-challenged women for a series of contests, has scored solid ratings among The WB's core audience of teenagers and young adults. It's won its Wednesday time period for the past two weeks in the persons 12-34 and adults 18-34 demographics and is growing in total viewers as well.
Through its first three weeks, the show has averaged 3.8 million viewers, hitting a high of 4.5 million last week.

It's not the greatest show, but I'll keep watching and I'll definitely be interested to see what changes they come up with for a second season. Like big whoppa, I'd like them to get rid of the elimination idea. They could still do the challenges and have a winner at the end without kicking them off the show.
