whos in blues traveler now

im pretty sure the lead singer died a few years ago (big guy who played the harmonica) but i saw a commercial for a new album and they also played at a small local cultural fair around here a few days ago too. did they just replace the lead singer? and are they singing the same songs that they used too as well?

they should have just renamed the band if you ask me...that guy WAS blues traveler IMO.

Uh, John Popper (the lead singer) isn't dead. You may think he is because he lost so much weight that he's practically unrecognizable.

John Popper is his name, and he is not dead.

Their bassist died a few years ago of an overdose, but Popper is most definitely still alive.

I saw them in concert last year, and they still kick a lot of ass. Since his stomach stapling, I miss heavy-set John, he fit my image of the band better. But for health reasons, I'm glad he trimmed down.

EDIT: Nevermind. You got your answer.

This thread reminds me....

Favorite concert moment ever:

Randall's Island - NY, Summer 1996

John Popper is the surprise special guest for Pearl Jam and he joins them to do the solo for Evenflow on harmonica...and I think there was a welcome light sprinkle at the time. Just glorious.

Ben Harper was the opening act.

Here's an image of "big" John:

And here's an image of skinny John:

And if they are even in your area, you should go see Chan's Chinese Fruits and Vegetables in concert.

Saw him at the Warren Haynes Xmas Jam this past year. He came out to jam with 4 or 5 different acts (including Living Color). Damn that guy can play.
