The Miracle of Morgan's Creek 09.06.05!
Preston Sturges fans rejoice!!!!
Paramount is finally releasing The Miracle of Morgan's Creek on 9/6/05.
No details available, but the M.S.R.P. of $14.95 suggests it will be a bare-bones release.

I wonder if this is worth getting by itself, or if it would be better to wait and see if a Preston Sturges boxed set is waiting in the wings...right now, the only Sturges film I have is The Sin Of Harold Diddlebock, which I'm told isn't really representative of Sturges at his best. It's still pretty funny, though..Harold Lloyd really went all out for this one!

For the all-region capable, Universal (UK) is releasing a 6-film boxset on August 29th, containing Christmas in July, The Great McGinty, The Lady Eve, Sullivan's Travels, The Palm Beach Story and Hail the Conquering Hero. Since Criterion has licensed two of these films from Universal (The Lady Eve, Sullivan's Travels--both still in print), it's possible that Universal may not release this box in the US (time will tell). The retail is £69.99. Minus VAT and plus shipping, it comes to about $87 from Amazon UK at the current horrible exchange rate.
