Stallone and Banderas in ''Assassins'' - Opinions?
Picked this up for a bargain price this lunchtime - what's the boards opinion on this? Dumb fun, or just dumb?

Julianne Moore adds plenty to make this worth the watch, I do find it hard to go back and look at these types of film now, anything older then 5-6 years old from mid 80's to late 90's look terrible.

Too long at 135min, but overall I enjoyed it. I remember when they were filming it here...I went and watched for a bit at the cemetery. Then we were sent on our way when the cameras rolled.

IMO, one of Stallone's best movies from the 90s. I think this didn't get respect because it came out a few months after the disasterous Judge Dredd, plus the trailers made it seem too similar to the inferior The Specialist which was released a year before. But I was pleasantly surprised by it.

I only have one word to describe this movie
"UGH"
Both Banderas and Stallone could have done better than this movie.
The movie was long, boring, and some of the things the characters did make no sense.

It's fun but not overly deep. I think you'll like it.
I'm amazed my dad doesn't have it since he's in it.

Re: Stallone and Banderas in ''Assassins'' - Opinions?
So two nights ago I noticed that this movie is on Netflix and decided to go around 90 minutes into the movie to see a certain someone. And there he is. My dad. 20 years ago. Full black hair and moustache, and svelte. What a trip down memory lane that was.
So of course I took a video of the scene, using a borrowed iPhone and sent it to him. After a bit of reminiscing over the phone, I told him to share the video with my sister. I'm sure she'll get a kick out of seeing our father as she's never seen him before.
I couldn't find a better video on Youtube but that's my dad to the left playing the flute. He's a flautist to the left of Julianne Moore. In fact the band he played in at the time, Tepeu, all appear during that scene.
