If you want the sequel, you have to buy the 61 film again...

June 3, 2005 - It has been clarified that The Parent Trap: 2-Movie Collection will contain two discs and be released on September 13th. From the sounds of it, Disc 1 will hold both 1961's The Parent Trap and 1986's made-for-TV sequel The Parent Trap II, while Disc 2 will offer bonus material, presumably ported from the original film's 2002 Vault Disney DVD set. As of now, it appears that The Parent Trap II (which is making its US home video debut) will not be available separately, but that is subject to change.

Actually there were three sequels.
Part 2 is ok, 3 and 4 are so-so. I have them all on VHS, I might be willing to upgrade if the price is right, but already have Part 1 on DVD, and I usually don't double dip.

I never saw any of the sequels and am looking forward to this
I'd like to see the other 2 sequels also, which I believe they were both direct to TV sequels.

I am a great fan of the Parent Trap movies. I have 1 & 2 and both have been out on DVD for a while. One for years and Two for at least a year, both are 2 Disc sets with interviews and such. I don’t see what more a collection can do. The remake was as good or better than the first movie depending on your personnel preference. The Third is the girls as twin adults and I didn’t like it as much. Bridgette dieing of drugs sucks. I didn’t know. Guess that’s Hollywood, sometimes we forget the characters aren’t.
EDIT I was under a large missunderstanding. There have been several spinoffs. A hawaian one. The one mentioned with Bridigette was a TV takeoff that is apparently not so good. I was talking about the Remake with Dennis Quaide ( Nick parker), Lindsey Lohan ( Hally/Annie) & Natasha Richardson (Elizabeth James) http://imdb.com/title/tt0120783/ as PT2. This remake was very good and is out under a Disney lable DVD.

Hmmm, so the second disc is the same as the second disc that is currently in the Parent Trap Disney Vault DVD? So there is no extra material related to Parent Trap 2?

If memory serves me the Disney 1998 PT remake ha a bonus material disc. I have a slot for it in my carousel and I remember the case was double thick. I pulled out bonus discs from the Pioneer 300 DVD changer to make more room movies. The cases with the bonus materials are in storage, so in lies my dilemma in answering the question. By the way PT remake is still at BB and Target. I am sure you can look at the cover and find out.

They're doing the same thing with Old Yeller. A 2-disc set with Old Yeller and its sequal Savage Sam is on disc 1 and on disc 2 is the same bonus features that's on the old Old Yeller 2-disc set.

I know I'm bumping an old thread here, but I just bought the Parent Trap I/II 2 disc set, $6 at BB this week, and wanted to clarify the above.
There are extras on it that are not on the earlier Parent Trap two disc set.

It was, I believe, three featurettes that are new to the "new" double feature set. I had them both in my hands last night comparing, but am at work now.
Hopefully I'll remember to pull them out again when I get home.
Although I did double check my "work" against various reviews that I searched for online.
