I don't think there have been different versions, other than VE and DVE. That just looks like a marketing spiel. It's cheaper at DDD. Avia is much older than DVE. Avia Pro is now available. It is substantially more than any of the others. Costs a bit more, too.

Is this the one that comes with the filter(s)?
I had some old calibration set (2 dvd's) that i have never heard mentioned before. I think it's from 1999. I'll have to find the name and post it, just for S&G's

DVE comes with filters. I don't know if VE did or not. Avia, S&V Guide to Home Theater, DVE are all good in their own way. What I mean is that some have better tests than others for certain things and some are know to have tests that are wrong. If you want complete without buying the Avia Pro disc you really need Avia and DVE. If you want the basics for cheap I'd go for S&V.

VE came with blue filter only, so does S&V. DVE should have 3 colors, although I've seen reports of only getting the blue, but that could also be confusion with VE or something. I'm not sure about Avia, at least the blue.
Oh, I forgot before: there were a couple different versions of some of these. DVE does also come on D-VHS, I believe, and that one includes HD tests. Plus there were tape and LD versions of the original VE and Avia. (I think)
