Do the individual Godfather I & II releases contain a mono track?

Everybody says the discs are identical to the box set; however, I've also heard the individual DVDs contain a mono track. Is this true?

I currently only have Part I, but I assume Part II is the same, and the answer is yes. Of course, it's a French mono track. If you're looking for English, there's only Dolby Digital 5.1 and, of course, a commentary track.

The audio for The Godfather II, and III single discs are both: English 5.1, and French 2.0
A mono soundtrack is not included on these DVDs, only for The Godfather.

The Godfather lacks the original English Mono audio, but offers like the sequels French mono.

I really hope these films are revisited and include the proper English audio mixes. I find the 5.1 mixes lacking and ruin the film for myself. All that lovely atmosphere from part 1 is missing in the new mix and it just sounds so fake.

I totally concur with you Julie. The 5.1 remastered soundtrack appears to sound too artificial. I also prefer the mono track.

The French tracks are 2.0 mono.

Mono can be encoded as either 1.0 or 2.0. Via ProLogic, a 2.0 mono track collapses to the center speaker and is indistinguishable from a discrete 1.0 encoding.

Is the Godfather Part III disc the theatrical version, or the "Home Video" version which so far has been the only one available? I looked everywhere on the cover and saw no indication it was the home video version, but you can never be too sure.
Still gotta find time to sit down and watch my CED copies of Godfather I and II in glorious mono!
