Trying to figure out how ROTS actually rates
I'm getting kind of weirded out by reports I'm hearing of this being the "greatest Star Wars film of all!"
So, if you would please.....
Age
Rank (favorite to least favorite)
-Original Trilogy
-New Trilogy
-All Six Films Combined
I'll go first....
27
Ep 5, Ep 4, Ep 6
Ep 3, Ep 2, Ep 1
Ep 5, Ep 4, Ep 3, Ep 6, Ep 2, Ep 1

5,4,6
3,2,1
3,5,4,2,6,1
ROTS for me is just relentless. I couldn't bear skipping any part of the movie and I didn't feel bored once. The others however had these moments once or twice.

5 (4 doesn't really rank. It's too special to rank, it gets dibs for just being, although I think 5 is a better film), 6
3,1,2 (1 was an OK reintroduction to SW. Gave me hope that they would get better. It was act 1, after all. 2 made me stop caring. That is its worst crime. Making me ambivalent towards Star Wars.)
5, (4), 3, 6, 1, 2

to me ROTJ and TPM are interchangable for last (tho I still like them both) after watching all 6 films in chronologial order last week I rethought my rankings of TPM and Jedi ranking TPM last. (in the future might feel the same about ROTS and Empire but I've seen Empire 100 more times than Sith)

I'm 35.
-Star Wars and Empire are equal, then Jedi.
-Sith is the best of the new, then TPM and AotC are equal (Clones should've been better, but that nonsense with the droid factory, plus Threepio losing his head and his bad puns really bothers me)
-As of today Sith rates higher than Jedi, because it doesn't have the Jabba's palace or Ewok absurdity, and I hated the way Han's character was lame-a-fied. But the whole Vader/Emperor/Luke conflict is tops, and almost puts Jedi over Sith for me (Mark Hamill's acting was just fantastic).
As you can tell, there are too many shades of grey in the way I vew these things for me to easily rate the movies against one another.
