What Are The Chances that Billy Joel Releases A New Album Of Original Material?

Its been 14 years since his last original record.

I cant take that big load/washed up Elton John touring with him. I want 2 1/2 hours of live Billy with new material.

I know he hates writing. I know he's gotten fat and lazy. I know he probably suffers from writers block.

Bottom line : he's too talented not to be able to come up with 10 great new songs.

BILLY : WE MISS YOU!

STOP DRINKING AND START WRITING AGAIN!

Billy is just as washed up as Elton. The only difference is that Billy knew when to quit writing new material. If he tried now, I'd say with 99% certainty that it'd suck compared to his old stuff, just like Elton's.

He said those things because I believe he suffers from writers block and because he's suffering from being fat/rich/lazy.

I don't think we'll ever see new material again unless he were to have some kind of Scott Weiland-type moment where he kicks his bad habits and turns his energies toward music. It's a damn shame too.

I think Elton is in much the same boat as Billy Joel, it's just that Elton's problems haven't become public record like Billy Joel's.

"These are the last words I have to say
That's why it took so long to write
There may be other words on other days
But that's the story of my life"

Elton doesnt have the high standards that Billy has ... thats why he keeps releasing mediocre records of new material.

Yeah. I know about 'Famous Last Words'. I know he's been quoting that song when he says that he's done writing new pop music. I also know that when he wrote this song, and put it on the album ... that he wasnt thinking that would be all ... its only a song.

Billy Joel is just a sad man now may he rest in peace (after he crashes into a wall).

I believe it has more to do with his loss of inspiration. River of Dreams was about the time he was going through his divorce. He was always enamored with her. I think Christie leaving is a huge part of his loss of desire. From this he turns into the "fat and lazy" you are referring to.

On that note though, he has had plenty of time to move on with his life and find new inspirations. Time to get back up Billy! We miss you.

I also agree that he has higher standards than releasing mediocre crap like sir Elton.
