Who in this Forum actually works in the Best Buy TV Department?

Hey all,

From time to time read about people saying that they work in the Home Theater Department at BestBuy -- I was just curious how many of you actually do?

Curious,

Matt

So, what? Deleted the old thread and started over? Or am I in the twilight zone?

I do not work there. They couldn't afford me. I'd make it part of my contract that employees must be knowledgeable about the products they sell. *POOF* go the profits.

Why did you delete the previous thread?

People don't like responding and having a thread deleted especially when the same thread is posted again. It also causes them to stop responding to that person's threads.

Hey all,

I just heard that management puts a lot of pressure on the eployees to sell things under false pretenses and to say whatever is necessary to sell the goods..... ( i mean, all places may be like this, to an extent -- but I heard its especially bad in some Best Buy stores....) More specifically the TV department....

You know I hear that a lot about lots of field (car salesman, insurance folks, realators, attorney's, etc) they are all "required" to be hard selling, cut throat, cheats. Honestly I don't buy any of it. I think it comes from the fact that many businesses have established a new business model. Your raise, pay and even your job depend on performance. Most businesses no longer allow you to be a senior partner after 10 years, and CEO after 20 (or whatever). You must perform. Some people take that too literally and others who don't preform blame the system and "pressure".

I'm in a field where some of my peers complain about "pressure" and feel they should get bigger raises because they have been with the company so long. They feel it is a right or are "entitled" to it. However, even tho I do well, I don't feel any pressure. I work hard, do what I've been trained to do, if I need help, I ask, throw in a special project now and again, and am quite happy.
