I have just heard the dumbest movie trailer narrator line ever

I just saw a TV spot for the Adam Sandler remake of The Longest Yard and it started with the narrator saying "Quarterback Paul Crewe was arrested for breaking the law..."

Go figure.

I just saw the commercial and thought it was strange too. It should've been something like "Professional quarterback Paul Crewe has just been arrested"

No, that honor still belongs to Wesley Snipes in the trailer for "Murder at 1600":

"There's been a murder at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue --- an address that changes all the rules."

Dumbest line in my mind still goes to the often used in tv and film

"He was framed...for a crime he didn't commit."

Wait, let me get this straight, he was FRAMED for something he DIDN'T do?

Shocking.

well, you can be arrested for a crime you didn't commit without being framed.

i think we should change this thread's title to "movie trailer narrations that make you do think they're stupid, but actually aren't"

They're still stupid though.

Sure, but that doesn't make "He was framed...for a crime he didn't commit." any less stupid.

Actually, I can think of a couple movies about characters who are framed for something it turns out they actually did.

You shouldn't tempt fate; someone might write a line that's dumber.

"In a world where that insufferable deep-voiced guy tantalizes masses of lemmings to go see drivel, intelligence is in increasingly short supply".

Go figure.
Was it voiced by a 7-foot tall man who had been smoking cigarettes since childhood?

Yes you can be arrested for a crime you didn't commit without being framed, BUT the reverse logic (upon which the narration relies) does not work.

If you are truly framed you are not arrested for a crime you commited.

In Orson Welles' Touch of Evil, a character is framed for a crime he had actually committed.

That's the one that I was thinking about. It's made even better by the fact that it's the character saying it, not the narrator.
