Actually, so far as I'm aware, Jason Bateman was never actually scheduled to make an appearance on the show. After Braff guested on "Development", Bill Lawrence was mentioned in TV Guide as saying he'd like to get Bateman to do a guest spot before the end of the season.
So, it was more an off the cuff comment, as opposed to an actual announcement...

Who would have ever thought 3 years ago I would be disappointed at not seeing Jason Bateman on a show? Talk about a career turnaround!

I just... didn't like the episode at all.
The story was just rushed on all aspects. the end of the internship was touched for a few seconds. Elliot leaving had about 3 minutes of screen time. Said no goodbye to anyone (yeah, she'll still be on the show. but how much?)
Looks like Jordan will be the hospitals hot female character next season.
What the fuck was up with the turk/carla story of getting pregnant? where the hell did that come from?
J.D.'s story just seemed lame. Everything was rushed and it just fell so short on every aspect. Really really weak.
