Geek-off! Marshall vs. Chloe!

Inspired by this thread

Ok, so you are a highly trained field agent. Day in and day out you are putting it on the line to save the world from all sorts of nasty terrorist threats.

The question is, who do you want working your tech-support while you are in the field? You should base your decision on several factors, including technical knowledge, bringing the funny, social awkwardness (a good trait for any techie,) or any single act of badass-edness that you can cite an example of. Feel free to include any field work that they have done.

Marshall Flinkman

OR

Chloe O'Brian

I expect Marshall to be the sentimental favorite here. He has been bringing the funny for 4 whole seasons. However, right after punking Edgar I might add, Chloe recently went into the field and unloaded an automatic rifle into some terrorist dude.

Discuss.

I'm voting for Marshall because Marshall can make those cool gadgets in addition to being funny. Chloe is also pretty fun to watch but she's only a hacker and not a gadgeteer.

Marshall also has a little more field experience. IMO this is as lopsided as a Sydney Bristow vs. Jack Bauer debate would be :d .

I have never actually seen NCIS. I picked Chloe and Marshall based on the fact that they are on two of the most watched shows here, based on thread post counts. The two characters actually have a lot of similarities.

And most fans of 24 are Alias fans and vice-versa.

Poor Chloe, I bet she doesn't get any votes at all

And I know a Jack Bauer/Sydney Bristow comparison would be lopsided. But that's only because Jack Bristow does all the ruthless stuff so his daughter doesn't have to. But trust me, it's in her blood...

Marshall is the man! He's been the only good part of several of this seasons Alias episodes IMO

Chloe is a lot better than she was last season, but I still find her a bit annoying

Actually, if you're going to throw NCIS in the mix, it'd be "Probie" McGee. But even so, this is really a no-brainer. Marshall any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Alright, somebody is voting for Chloe. Get back in here and give her some much needed props!

On another note, imagine the mad computer skillz a Marshall/Chloe offspring would have. Open a socket and send it to my screen quick!

This is such a no-brainer, even Chloe would vote for Marshall.

Marshall of course. But then again Chloe was in one of Weezer's videos after Pinkerton was released. Bah, Marshall.

I like Marshall, but Chloe rocks my world...she's been my favorite character on 24 since last season, and I can always count on her to crack me up. "I hope I'm not some kind of psychopath". Plus, the fact that a lot of people are annoyed by her gives her that underdog quality. Seriously, just give me Jack & Chloe, and everyone else can get blown up by Marwan as far as I'm concerned.

A lot of Marshall's style of humor has gotten old over the years (they're in a briefing, Marshall starts babbling on & on, everyone glares at him, except Sydney who smiles condescendingly...finally, Sloane/Dixon/Vaughn/Jack snaps, "Marshall!"). He's been a lot funnier lately, though, especially since he & Weiss share a lot of the comic relief nowadays.

Edited to add: though, if we're really doing the "who do you want watching your back?" thing, I'd probably have to go with Marshall, since he seems to invent all this crazy technology on the fly....but that's really more of an Alias vs. 24 issue.

Exactly. I've been sick of Marshall's schtick for a long, long time.

On the other hand, I think I could watch Chloe for 20 years and I would still find her hilarious.

Plus, these are probably the two most unrealistic (for somewhat reality grounded programs), over the top and, each in its own way, silly shows on TV. But I find 24 far more entertaining.

Chloe all the way!

(I am not voting on the relative "skills" of the characters but on the entertainment I get from the actors playing these characters.)

Marshall is a better bet to save the world, but if it were just a contest of the biggest geek, that'd definitely be Chloe.

Don't forget, not only did Marshall shoot a guy, he then dug out the guy's eyeballs. Now that's hardcore right there.

Yeah, but Marshall didn't exactly do it intending to kill the guy, and had to be talked into the whole eye thing. Chloe killed a bad ass terrorist with an assault rifle and then admits to feeling nothing! She's a cold-hearted motherfucker taking after Jack Bauer.

That said, Marshall is an uber-genius, uber-hacker, and uber-inventor. Chloe is just an IT gal. It's a lopsided question, Marshall has far more mad h4x skillz than Chloe.
