Anyone going to a press screening this week?

Hey all,

anyone else going to a press screening for Sith this week? I'm assuming they're having them in all the major cities this week but just curious when everyone is doing it.

Mine is on Thursday.

NOOOOOOO...i had already said it in another thread. I was just wondering if there were multiple screenings going on at the same time or if they would be on different days.

To be honest, it's really cool seeing it 2 weeks early but in reality, it's just a movie. It's still going to be the same on opening night as well...and I have my ticket for 12:01 as well.

And fyi...i got to see Clones 2 weeks earlier as well. You don't understand the wait to then see it AGAIN. You feel like someone gave you the best candy and then told you you can't have it again for another 2 weeks

Well why don't you just fork over the ticket and you won't have to go through that torture... =)

Because it's not my ticket. A movie reviewer/close friend is taking me.

Oh and btw...the audiences at these things are NEVER as intense as opening night. THAT is the best way to see the movie.

I was lucky enough to see Episode II early, and let me tell you, it was nothing like seeing it opening night. The theater was only a 1/10 full, and the audience was so in awe that the theater was silent the entire showing. At the end, we all walked out, too busy pondering the movie we'd just seen, not allowing ourselves to be excited.

Then I saw it opening night - and the audience changed hte experience almost entirely. When STAR WARS blared across the screen the audience couldn't stop cheering until the end of the crawl. Then it was dead silent, silent until we all saw that tiny green lightsaber ignite and that puppet that was once constrained to the ground fly through the air and remind us all why Yoda trained Jedi for 800 years.

I too saw an early screening of a prequel.....There was no excitement...It was all reviewers for the papers and casual fans....The midnight showing is amazing....But I'd love to see SW a week or two early again!

Give me a break.

You sound just like those male porn stars who try to tell us that being a porn star is not as great as it sounds and it is really a lot of work. We are on to you.

Gotcha beat! Exhibitor screening tonight. Still have tickets for opening night midnight showing. First time to do that and since this is the last one, had to experience that also.

I walked out of the Monster in Law screening at the MPAA screening room here in DC - what an awful dumb as dirt movie - didn't even bother ranking it in my film list.

Is this why you see movies months/weeks in advance and list them on your "Rank'em Film list"? How can you justify a B+ rating for Madagascar having only seen forty minutes of it?

I thought we talked about this on e-mail?

Anyhoo, Dreamworks toured 40 minutes of MADAGASCAR around the country to gauge reaction. I'll change the grade when I see the whole thing. But the film is off to a great start.

I didn't realize the "Rank" list was scientific. You list shorts that nobody is ever going to hear, see, read about in their lifetimes, I don't see why my MADAGASCAR inclusion is such a bad thing.

oops, sorry. With your explanation, the inclusion of MADAGASCAR is fine.

as to the short film shorts I see, a good majority of them ARE available for rental. If you really want anal film buffs see the folks film lists at Home Theatre Forum - they really scare me.

See? This is what I told people in another thread. People were asking if they could come with me and I said "depends on how cute you are."

Thought I'd check the thread during lunch and this one made me laugh.

Screening is at 7:00 PST. I'll try to get something written out tonight, my wife won't want to listen to me babble about it so at least I have an outlet here. Thanks all!

(Had to add the new Star Wars smilie!)

It's pretty self-explanatory. Be a member of the press/entertainment industry...or know someone who is.

I'm starting a review thread to avoid 9,000 "I seen it, yo" threads.

Please put it there. And have fun!
