.Zen music files

Not sure which forum to post in, this or tech so please move if need be.

I found a site with some old Nirvana shows & demos but almost all are in .Zen format. There's a program on the site to convert but I don't trust it and am wondering if there's another way to convert these to a playable format. I've searched google but all I get are crazy hippie sites new age crap cause of the word zen. (Then again, I suck at the interenet) Any help would be appreciated.

I didn't post the link as I'm not sure what Nirvana's recording policy was/is. Anyone that's interested can e-mail me.

in regards to not trusting it, why don;'t you just copy the files to another folder or burn them to a cd to back them up

Sounds like it might be crap:

http://filext.com/detaillist.php?ext...en&goButton=Go

On the other hand...

http://www.file-ext.com/z.html

^^ lists it as a "sound" file.

I'm not worried about losing the files, the conversion program is a .bat file and I don't want to d/l and run it on my cpu.

Before the days of Napster, in order to avoid being caught by network admins, people used to change the extension of media files to .xyz. Try changing it to .mp3 and see what happens.

Changing the file extension worked. It's also posted on the website, I must have missed it last night.

Yes, this kind of thing needs to go in Tech but as it has now been asked and answered we'll leave it here.
