I guess Wrestling games on the Xbox are destined to suck forever. Can't believe THQ didn't make a better effort you would think third time would be the charm for that franchise. It still amazes me that developers can't pick up a copy of the N64 wrestling games and figure out exactly how the formula should work.

Ouch, Pac-pix got hammered... what did they say about it?
No Gamecube games? I was wondering why they said they'd review the new Fire Emblem game in this issue... I didn't even know it was coming out yet... guess it's been delayed.

Interesting scores as always. I guess Jade Empire is the stand out for the month, and I'm sure David Duchovny fans would be happy with the scores for area 51 (although gamespot.com said his performance was fairly ordinary).. Anyone playing wipeout pure yet?

I'm a huge fan of the series and I have no problems with it.

glad to see Area 51 get good scores...I picked it up yesterday. Wow Close Combat got slaughtered....I finished it a week or two ago and enjoyed it. That is weird that Pariah got 2 6.5s and a 9.0. What did the reviewers not like about it?? I am interested in picking this one up next week. I am a big FPS fan.

You see that in EGM pretty often. They put reviewers with different tastes on each game to try to give you varied opinions.
I like it, not much point in having 3 reviewers do a review of an FPS if their all diehard FPS fans, for example. I'm not big on FPS's so I always look to see which reviewer doesn't have them listed among his favorite genre's in his/her profile and pay more attention to that review.

EGM has saved me a lot of money with their reviews. Its pretty rare that they are wrong about a game in my experience. The reviews are definitely the reason I read EGM and check sites like IGN. They usually include enough detail to give you a pretty good idea if the game is for you outside of just the number score.
Pac-Pix only got a moderate score, but after reading the review it is probably a game I will pick up.

Heck, I even go to gamefaqs reviews just to get a few different perspectives.
and, of course, the opinions on this board are invaluable...

I don't like to read lengthy reviews as I'm not really much interested in the specifics of peoples opinions. I just don't care much about other's opinions of entertainment things in general.
Mainly just like to see what type of games they like, what score they gave the game their reviewing, and very brief reasons on what was good and/or bad. To give me some brief basis on whether to check it out or not.
