Tecmo Bowl coming to Xbox!

From Magic Box.

- Tecmo announced Tecmo Classic Arcade for Xbox, which includes a compilation of 6 classic titles: Solomon's Key, Tecmo Bowl, Tecmo Basketball, Mighty Bomb Jack, Bomb Jack and Trapt.

Possibly one of the best football games ever. A short list why:

1) LT can do a line of coke on the sideline and run like the cops are after him.
2) Endzone to Endzone passes.
3) Receivers with 30ft verticals
4) Being able to kick a field goal from anywhere and miss it by only a couple feet.
5)Bo Jackson is unstopable

That's good news, I love Tecmo Bowl. My NES copy is getting pretty old.

I think it's going to be the arcade version of Tecmo Bowl.

I still have both NES games and play them from time to time with some friends.

I was trying to look up some information on the arcade version when I came across a few pages that stated people have been creating patches for the NES Tecmo Super Bowl to update the rosters every year.

Mighty Bomb Jack!!!

Well, Tecmo bowl won't have the NFL rosters or teams, right?

I don't think the arcade version had the NFL players or teams which is what this is likely to be. If I recall correctly, NES Tecmo Bowl used real player names with made-up team names and NES Tecmo Super Bowl was the first to feature the full NFL license with a couple of player name exclusions (remember QB Browns?)

Ah crap. You're right. I was thinking of Tecmo Superbowl which is truely superior. QB Eagles and all!

This might be the non-Arcade Tecmo Bowl as Tecmo Basketball is also listed and as far as I know, the only version of that was the NES version (Glen Rice hit every 3 pointer he shot)

Tecmo Super Bowl NES style.. the best fotball game ever. No one could stop Christian Okoye... or the amazing duo of Jackson and Allen in the backfield for the raiders. Off Guard play to the left.. money!

I just don't know, guys - the Xbox may not have sufficient hardware to render graphics of this caliber...

List price is $50 on EBgames.com right now. If this is true, I'll pass.

Neither-it's their "target video" of what they think they will able to get it to look like.

While I cut my teeth on the Joe Montana football games (I think it was Sports Talk that was my fav) Tecmo Bowl is easily my second favorite football franchise. They really should make a gameboy version.
