Do any DVD Recorders have component passthrough?

I want to be able to record shows on DVR rather than on a hard drive (I fill those things up in like a week). Do any recorders have component video pass through and optical passthrough? I don't want to hook up via coax, and I want the best quality picture and sound through my digital cable, since many shows are broadcast in dolby digital. What about HD signals?

Please note: I do not want to do ANYTHING illegal or in violation of copyright, I just want to find a recorder that will suit my needs. I rarely get home early enough to see anything on broadcast!

"DVR rather than on a hard drive"
DVRs use hard drives. Did you mean DVD-R?

Recorders don't record HD, yet. Only a couple have component inputs, and I doubt they can pass HD signals through. Same goes for digital audio, they don't record it.

Your solution is probably a bit different. You would want to run Svideo and analog audio to the DVD-R and an HD output to your TV with optical to your receiver. My parents have the Comcast HD-DVR and it outputs on both video outputs simultaneously so you can watch a show in HD and record it in SD on DVD at the same time. At least I think it does, it appeared to when I set it up.

Blech, I don't want to do that. I guess I'll just have to watch things quicker.
