Need Help, Please
I did a search and couldn't find an answer. A friend of mine gave me a 21 inch T.V. I then went out and bought a DVD player. When I went to hook up the DVD player I noticed that the TV had no RCA cable hookup, just the cable hookup from the wall to the TV. I have a VCR hooked up and it has RCA cables. My question is: Can I hook the DVD player into the VCR and play it that way? If I cannot how can I hook up the DVD player to a TV that desnt have any RCA jacks in the back?
Thank you
Tony

You technically can run a dvd player through the VCR, but you might run afoul of Macrovision, the copy-protect mechanism in many/most VCR's.
I think there are also RCA-to-coax adapter boxes, you should be able to find one at Target or best buy or walmart or somewhere.
So you can either go DVD player - > VCR -> TV, unless macrovision messes it up;
or get one of those adapters, I think they run 10-15 bucks.
This may be it, called an RF Modulator, obviously check the connections

This is the one I bought for my Dad who had the same problem. It accepts four inputs which is handy, for say, a video camera, a PS2, a VCR and a DVD player, for instance.

Target has something similar but with less inputs.

The device you need is an "RF modulator." They cost less than $30 at Wal-Mart or Radio Shack, and they take the composite video and (optionally) analog audio from the player and "modulate" it into an RF signal that your TV can tune, on channel 3 or 4.
If you want your VCR connected to the TV as well, you will need an A/B switch an an extra RF cable.
If you try to use the VCR's inputs, the picture will probably be unstable. Many commercial DVDs turn on the player's Macrovision copy protection circuit, which messes up a VCR's ability to properly synchronize the video signal. Won't happen on every DVD, but will on many.
You might want to start saving for a modern TV, too,
