The Professionals - question about cuts.
I am sure there are people on here that know this movie better than me, I last saw it on TV about 30 years ago. But I picked up the new SE and watched it last night.
There is a sequence early on in the movie where they encounter their first bunch of Mexican bandits in a pass and discover that Burt Lancaster has been captured and is hanging upside down, and they surround and ambush them.
Lee Marvin takes a long machete from one of the bandits, but there are some very quick cutaways and you never see him actually hit anyone with it, and in a matter of seconds all of the villiains are despatched.
Like I say, because it's been a very long time since I saw it, I have no idea if this sequence was originally intact or not, but it is heavily edited in this version.
Does anyone know the history of cuts as regards this movie?
