There is no way this one won't get a fantastic release, either as a double-dip or originally.

sweet, thanks for the news. hopefully they get it all on the first DVD, so no double dip will be necessary.

I wouldn't put too much faith in that date tho. Almost everything listed there is coming out that day or the following. Also, August 1st is a Monday. Maybe Sin City will come out on the 2nd, but maybe not. Definitely looking forward to it though.

This is a guess: Sin City 1 disc in August and the eventual 2-disc Special Edition right before Christmas.

I'm really interested in seeing the extended versions. I thought the stories were paced a little too quickly.

Maybe they mean sometime in August because Aug. 1st is a Monday, and secondly, having Fever Pitch, Sin City, Ong-Bak, Miss Congenialty 2, Upside of Anger, Kung Fu Hustle, and Beauty Shop all in one day is insane!

My guess exactly....I even predict a triple dip: 1 disc release, 2 disc release, 1 disc unrated/directors cut.

Hasn't Rodriguez been pretty good about not double-dipping though? SPY KIDS is the only one I can think of he's done a SE for, and the original one was a pretty early bare bones. Besides the variations on EL MARIACHI and DESPERADO in various flipper and 2-disk packages, I think he plans for the DVD early in the process and takes a lot more control than the average director bothers to.

Hopefully the first will be the best until HD.

The Spy Kids special edition still isn't in stores....he said on the 3-d commentary he was working on it....but it has not shown up.

and his double dips have been rare....superbits for a few titles...and a re-release for once upon a time in mexico....

oh and i still want roadracers

I'm sure there will be a superbit. But some of the special features he was talking about sound too sweet to pass up. Besides, I'm not sure you'd really need a superbit on this one anyways.

Sorry to burst the bubble here, but that is in no way the confirmed date. Some of the newer "release date" sites offer "estimates" of a possible release month (by putting the title on the first of the month), then place it in the correct date slot when it announces......they are way off on alot of titles, by the way....

Yeah, I'd pretty much buy every release of this. Personally, Ihope things go the way of Hellboy and we're told of the special edition before it comes out. Hell, I'll even take a mini-bust of Marv

I'm still waiting for an anamorphic re-release of "The Faculty" from Rodriguez.

I don't think that Columbia/Sony had anything to do with this film (domestically at least), so no Superbit. (maybe another region Superbit release is possible though, I'm not sure who is handling distribution in Japan, etc)

And yeah, I didn't realize that Aug 1st was a Monday. Oh well, here's hoping for an August release anyway/

Didn't he just say recently that he's working on doing an SE of "Faculty" and finally releasing "Roadracers", along with the oft-mentioned SE of "Spy Kids"? I thought I read that somewhere.
