Tales from the Crypt Season 1 Coming!
http://dvdanswers.com/index.php?r=0&...6365&n=1&burl=
It's about time! Hopefully it'll be the uncut HBO episodes, not the cut down ones.
Warner has announced the complete first season of Tales from the Crypt which will be arriving in shops from the 12th July this year. Based on the legendary and gruesome EC Comics from publisher William Gaines, this horror anthology featured stories of murder, the super natural, gore and humor and always had a twist ending of sorts. Some of Hollywood's biggest names took part, either working in front or behind the camera. Each of the episodes will be presented in 1.33:1 full frame along with English 2.0 Stereo Surround tracks. Extras will be included on this one, but Warner has yet to reveal what they will be.

I'm excited. 6 episodes is better than nothing, in my book. If it's a small season, the price will most likely be cheaper, which could attract more blind buys and casual fans, than a $40 boxset would. That could boost sales, to ensure more seasons are produced, and it's not a one season DVD set, as a lot tend to be.
Maybe they're going the way of Three's Company and the Simple Life, and smaller seasons will be presented in single DVD cases.

I've been waiting for this announcement FOREVER!!! FINALLY!!! I hope Season 2 is released by early next year.
More info from TVShowsOnDVD:
Now HBO puts all six first-season episodes onto a single DVD, with a second DVD disc full of special features (the details of which haven't been revealed yet).

Since this is only a half-hour show with short seasons, it's too bad they didn't combine seasons 1-3 into one set, then do 4-5 in one set, and 6-7 in a final one.
From what I recall, the series had pretty much jumped the shark by the sixth season. I could be wrong, but looking at the episode guide at TVTome, I don't see many memorable episodes from those two seasons. Looks I had bailed by that time.
As far as extras go, it would be very cool if they could include the original EC comic stories that the episodes were based on.

This is the best DVD news I've heard since they announced the release of The Simpsons. This is the number 1 announcement I've been waiting for since I started collecting five years ago. My day has been made.

I was never a huge fan of this show, but I did watch it all the way through to its utter final demise just because I'm a horror nut and must see them all. I can definitely vouch that the final couple of seasons were a lot worse than what came before. Not only that, but by the time the 7th season was airing on HBO, the earlier seasons had already been edited down and had been running successfully (albeit butchered) on the Fox network. You could tell the producers of the final season had tamed down the material in advance so that not much editing would have to be done to get that final season in shape for Fox. The seventh season is really tame stuff from what I remember. And I hate the Cryptkeeper - he just annoys me to no end. However, I'm glad the show is coming out to please the fans and I may just end up giving it another chance as well. Maybe it has dated well considering how bland the horror genre has been as of late.
