Best Buy Gamer Gift Cards Gone?

I've been looking to get Gamer Gift Cards but I haven't found them.

All I see are the Xbox and PS2 Gamer Cards but you have to spend $29.99 to get $5 Off

Now that Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and Black Arrow are $19.99 I can't find them

Anyone else with the same problem?

Yep. I saw the new ones out for a bit around late Jan/early Fed, then they dissappeared and just the 29.99 ones are out ever since.

I believe I read it was varying by stores and depended if the managers wanted to put them out. Some stores were tired of selling $20 games for $15 so often apparently.

The store hear has the $29.99 ones available where the games are and the $19.99 hanging on the wall at customer returns (with the other 10 or so gift card styles). Check there and see if any are hanging around

This is like the 1,456,378th time someone has posted about the cards being gone or phased out. I see them at my Best Buy all the time. I even see the ones that expired in 2003 there.

100%

Seach function people. That number is obviously inflated by a million, but it probably has been posted about 456,378 times.

It's there. Granted, the availability may vary across the country, but it's still out there. I saw a whole stack of them just last week and will pick some up tomorrow!

I spoke to someone in the games section at my local store, and he said they were in the back. The old ones (again some that expired in 2003!) were supposed to be removed and replaced. I was thinking, yeah right, when? 2007?

Do I understand correctly that (in theory) you're suppose to put at least $1 on the gift card to get it?

I've heard 1 cent is enough, but I just take the card out and use the coupon. I do this right in front of them, and they never say anything. It's too much of a hassle to explain the whole process to them. I was told before the minimum was $5, so YMMV I guess.

See! See! He does it too! Where is the moral brigade now?

I used to do that but they started disappearing so I bought a bunch of them and put a dollar on them when I found some.

I would err on the side of caution and get a few.

Wouldn't you know it though, I did quite a few months ago and haven't stepped into a BB since.

I think the topic keeps coming up b/c more stores are pulling them from the shelves (or not restocking them when they run out).

Sucks, but I can see why. They can't be making much profit on GH games at $15.

Not to mention that the new coupons eliminate any discount on Gamecube, GBA, Nintendo DS, or PSP games unless they're made by EA.
I don't know about the GH thing... they seem to have buy 2 GH for 30 or even 25 sales pretty often.

A lot of times after they have those sales, they seem to not restock some of the GH titles.

I think they may do it more just to clear out older GH titles to make room for more full priced games.

At least it seems that way at my BB which has a very small game section and a pretty sparse selection.

The only ones I've seen are the coupons for games 29.99 and up.

I was just at Best Buy this evening, bought a card and went right to the game and bought Zoo Keeper for $15. There were at 3 or 4 full hangers full of Gamer cards.

The new ones aren't EA only. They have the regular $19.99 and up ones, the EA $29.99 and up ones, and the console specific $29.99 and up ones from what I have seen.

Yeah, but the ones people are reporting "missing" are always the 19.99 ones. I mean, why even have the other ones if the 19.99 ones are going to be regularly available? And there is no Gamecube one that I've seen... only Xbox and PS2.

This idea might seem unethical but when they had these coupons in magazines I would just make copies so I wouldn't have to rip up the magazines. They scan fine and noone questioned them.

My local Best Buy seemed to have all the different ones mentioned here, the original $5 off any game $19.99 or above, as well as the $5 of any game $29.99 or above, the EA one, PS2 one, etc...

Picked up one of the $5 off $19.99 or above ones in my local BB as well (just had to do a little looking to get the non PS2, non EA ones), and was able to purchase the card, put a few bucks on it and use the coupon, and the card on a game, along with another Gift Card I already had with no problem...

My wife had promised our son the SpongeBob Movie GBA game and there was no way I was paying full price for that
