WTB Region Free DVD player w/ DTS
Hey --- Looking to get a mid-high range DVD player that is Region free. It must have DTS...
Suggest away, but please......
..........Any links to retailers would be great.
I have a Yamaha reciever that can handle DTS, so I'm guessing the DVD has to have encoder built-in, as the Yamaha Rcvr has the decoder...?

Well, yes you're wrong. 
1) The DVD should have the DTS logo on it.
2) The DVD Player should have the DTS logo on it (to inform you it is capable of reading the DTS signal from the DVD you're playing) because usually if it does not, it does have the capability of sending the DTS signal to your receiver or amplifier.
3) Your amplifier or receiver should have the DTS logo on it, so you know it can interpret the signal from your DVD player.
Now, the reason I say should, is because sometimes, DVD players will not have a DTS logo on them, but will still be capable of sending a DTS signal to your receiver or amplifier (such as the Philips DVP642/37).

What do you want to spend? You can get most players modded for region free from JVB Digital or other such websites, for additional cost. I would recommend a Denon player in the 2xxx series or higher for overall video and audio quality. A good cheaper player is the Pioneer 578A (or is it 588A now?), also a universal player and can probably be modded by JVB.
Or you can check out places like VideoHelp.com for postings about specific players to see if there are free region-free modifications. For mid-high range players, it's tougher to find these since not many buy them and not usually for all-region use. But it doesn't hurt to look. I got my Denon 2900 changed to region-free with advice from videohelp.
