Safe PS2 Games to Play on RPTV (avoiding burn-in)?
Hi all,
I have a 3 year old Panasonic RPTV, calibrated with AVIA so that contrast, sharpness, etc. aren't at extreme levels. I'd like to play games on it, but fear the potential burn-in from long gaming sessions. I've heard that games that don't have static images on the same portion of the screen (health bars, radar maps, etc.) won't cause burn-in. I'm looking for a list of games like that. The two that I can think of are:
Jak and Daxter: Precursor Legacy (your health only shows when you are hurt, and briefly)
Beyond Good and Evil
Any others? Or am I just being paranoid about burn-in?
Thanks!

You're just being too paranoid!! I've played hours at a time (Halo/Halo2/KOTOR) and never worry about burn-in on my Mitsubishi RPTV.
You'd have to leave that static image up for quite sometime to even worry about burn-in. So...just play!!

As long as you aren't going for like 14 hours solid on the same game, I wouldn't worry about it.
I've done all-day sessions before with no problems on my Toshiba.

I don't play on my Panny RPTV, but when I do, I just let the TV "rest" by switching the channel or turning it off for a few minutes every 2 hours or so. You should really take a break from gaming every 2 hours anyway.

Ditto.
If I have pause to eat dinner or something, I change the channel to something on tv, or just turn the tv off.
Also, I have the picture on 'Widescreen' or 'Auto' which stretches the image out to fit the entire screen, rather than having it 'windowboxed.' That helps.
I'd say as long as your bright/contrast is down below 50%, which it probably is, and the image changes at least hourly, you'd be fine. Even a lot of games with the more static screen components, usually have enough 'loading' screens or interim movies to break it up a bit.

I also have never had a problem and I've had times where a friend and I would play up around six hours. If you need to pause for a long period of time, just turn the TV off or to a channel. Problem solved.
