Quick question for "old timers" regarding DVD "signal dropout" with Sony TV's

I found this link via google while trying to research my problem.

Did you guys ever get any resolution to this issue? I have a Sony 27 inch display from the same series as those mentioned in the post, and have the exact same problem.. When I bought the tv ~4 years ago I picked up a non-sony DVD player and had the signal "dropout", and like many of the people in the thread I thought it was the player and returned it.. In exchange for a Sony unit.... Which worked fine, aside from having the build quality of a wet cardboard box.. My PS2 worked fine through the s-video as well...

This weekend I auditioned an Integra 8.3 multiformat player and while putting it through it's paces, I tried the video and whaddya know, the problem comes back.. I tried with 2 different cables (both of which I've had no problems with for the past 3-4 years), on both svideo ports of the 8.3, and the problem persisted.

The next day, I took it back to the store with MY cable and with the DVD I was trying to watch and it worked _flawlessly_ on a pioneer display (it was the easiest to get to).

So I'm left wondering just what kind of shenanigins Sony was trying to pull by making it so that only thier products will work with this series...

Cliffs Notes:
Click on the link at the top. It's from 01 and about Sony TV's "losing DVD signal" from non-Sony branded players. If you know anything about this, or if anyone ever had the problem resolved, please reply.

Thanks.
