Is this the PS3?

I hope not because it looks pig ugly. Most probably a fake but the ability to play UMD's would be interesting. Looks like a projector.

They would be wireless, I assume.

That screams fake though. And a pretty horrible fake at that.

UMD is the format of the PSP (the new Playstation Portable).

That is horrendous, but if it had PSP compatibility (along with PS1 and PS2 compatibility), I'd but it in an instant.

Ah ok thanks.I can see why they would include that, since they like backwards compatibilty.Seems like a good idea to me.I just hope to God the PS3 doesn't really look like that.

wow... guess I'm the only one who likes it. I also think it's a fairly convincing fake (if it's a fake - which it probably is). I think one of the ugliest consoles since the intellivision was the PS2.

Would anyone have believed a picture of the PS2 18 months ahead of its release? I imagine we'd have heard the same 'ugly' comments...

Still probably a fake, but seems to fit in the same PSP look 'family'. Might not be too far off.

The PS2 is still ugly so it is possible that the PS3 could look like that.

Relax there buddy... My comment was not directed towards you, rather the picture. If I wanted to respond to you I would quote you, as I did now.

E3 is less than two months away, so we'll know what it looks like then.

I don't think it looks that bad either. don't you just buy the system because of the games and not because of looks anyway?

The looks of the GC have def. hurt it in the long run. So, to answer your question, there are a lot of people that allow the looks of the system determine if buy it or not. Sony excels at sexyness, I don't think the PS3 will be an exception. I personally like the design above.

sony has to do something different now, since microsoft is getting game makers to switch over to make games for the xbox 2. i mean sony has been on top of the market for so long, but microsoft wants to take over the console market too so it is just a matter of time before the hurt goes on. but damn that thing is ugly.
