Question About Writing On DVD's?

Do they still play? The writing in on the back of the dvd, in the middle circle, its in a thin sharpie, got it this way used, will it still play?

Why not put it in your DVD player and see?

But yeah, it chould play if the writing is in the inner ring, which is not part of the playing surface.

This is what I do with flippers. I write something that can be seen in the semi-dark of my HT so I know which side is which more easily. Only on the inner spindle, though. Usually the printed words are too tiny or the wrong color to see in poor lighting.
