movies that do a complete 180 half way through the movie (will contain spoilers)

these are movies where the movie starts going one way, and then takes a completly different route for the second half.
from dusk till dawn,
Spoiler:
its first a semi disturbing kidnap story then about an hour in, it becomes a non stop vampire movie. i cant imagine how some horror movie/vampire movie fans felt at that first hour, since there is no indication of that except in the trailer,
i highly underrated movie btw.
million dollar baby
full metal jacket first is about the military training
Spoiler:
then after R Lee Ermey is killed, it becomes a war movie

Predator.

Starts out a standard fare commando operation/rescue mission, turns into a great alien sci-fi battle.

Full Metal Jacket can also be seen as two stories examining the dehumanization of Pyle, then Joker.

I agree with you on From Dusk til Dawn. That switch is one of the reasons I didn't like that movie.

Office Space... From anti corporate flick to I don't know what happened

Star Wars: Phantom Menace...switches mid stream to a silly kids racing movie then back to a Star Wars movie.

"From Justin to Kelly":

Spoiler:
It starts out sucking major ass, then somewhere in the middle it starts to make sense and starts kicking major ass...or, no, sorry, I was confusing this movie with "You Got Served". This movie sucks ass the whole time.

There's this film called PSYCHO that takes a pretty drastic turn after the first 45 minutes.

Forgotten
Spoiler:
Goes from a missing kid/mom may be crazy angle to freakin' aliens. I like sci fi as much as the next person, but I was in no way prepared for it to be aliens.

Ruined the movie for me, and I liked it up until that point.

Not exactly "halfway through", but Don't Look Now with Donald Sutherland has to be the most whacked out twist ending ever, followed cloesly by Fat Girl.

A lot of people hated From Dusk Till Dawn for it's approach, I loved it for that. In all honesty, I would love to see more horror movies take that approach.

A friend of mine is a big fan of The Excorcist and she made an interesting point: imagine if people went into the movie with no book or preview BG. For a lot of the movie, it seems as though the movie is about a young teen girl dealing with the problems of a divorce and maybe a mental disorder.

I have a friend that is anal about previews and reviews. Won't even let a group of people who have seen it to discuss it in his presence. Almost to the point of being an asshole about it. I always ask him how he chooses to see a movie if he has 0 background info on the film. Does he just go by titles? He never really has an answer for that.

The Abyss, uncut version. Action Sci-Fi flick changes to preachy social commentary at the end.

Das Boot
For Pete's sake! You can't do that in a film, it's so tragic.

Memento
Reliability of memory, lies, self-deception... It's all happening around us including ourselves.

Collateral
What a disappointment towards the end. It's such a shame.
