Gamestop Preowned DVD Stupidity...
Haha, I stopped by my Gamestop tonight and picked up Donnie Darko Directors Cut for $8.99 and Hoosiers: SE for $6.99... how you ask? They had them marked as the regular versions and not the special editions... Good deal!

I had a friend who worked at Gamestop and in their computers, they only have one title per film. If they get a copy of the director's cut of Donnie Darko, it's going to ring up as the original theatrical edition. If they get a copy of the special edition of Hoosiers, it's going to ring up as the original movie-only edition. Same applies to all other re-issues (you could get the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings films for cheap there).
When I went to visit my friend one day, I noticed they had the first season of S.W.A.T. for $12. I asked him why it was so cheap and he told me the story, and in the first season of S.W.A.T.'s case, it rings up instead as the 2003 film.
I, myself, would personally never buy anything from GameStop. The employees use the stores as their own rental place (if the DVDs/video games are brand new OR used). For that alone, I'd never shop there.

Interesting... I'll have to keep my eyes out for other SEs...
I shop at this particular Gamestop quite regularly for DVDs and I've had nothing but good luck. The copy of all 3 movies I picked up (Donnie Darko DC, Hoosiers SE and Metallica: some Kind of monster) all have discs with no signs of usage and perfect condition cases... not to mention I save a lot of cash!

Some Gamestops have also been selling their anime at 50% off. We've picked up some nice stuff including the big Escaflowne box with the black Escaflowne figure. I've found many other DVDs there at good prices. I always give the disc surface a look before I buy, so no worries there.

I always recommend checking used video game stores for deals like that. I work at EB, and it's true when he said that we don't have a sku for every single DVD. Some deals to be found obiviously...

I havent had any probs with disc I've bought from Gamestop. I just ask to look at them first, which they allow me to do, to see if I want to buy them. I picked up a mini-series called Ultraviolet for 5 bucks and the second season of the Shield for 20 bucks.

Is this for brand-new product or used? And do you mean that the price tag says one price, but it actually rings up as another - or that they often just price them low because of confusion over the SKU's? I'm just wondering if I see a Donnie Darko: DC at Game Stop and the price tag is for around $20 (i.e. the normal price) if that means that I'm shit out of luck or that I need to take it up to the register and see if it rings up as $8.99? Because just going by the price tags, I haven't come across any of these insane deals at either of the two Game Stops I frequent.

I didn't buy robocop cc for 9.99 because I already had it, but it was there for a good amount of time and I think someone picked it up though.
also do the right thing cc was 7.99, great dvd. 100x better than the universal 5.99 version...never know what you're going to find at those gamestops
so memento
$9.99 regular edition $9.99
$23.99 limited edition $9.99
go figure

i use to work for gamestop and they take in the SE under the reg. sku as the normal ones, the only one that they dont anymore is Lord of the Rings.. They have have a Extend verison sku but that is the only dvd.. And gamestop will no longer be carrying anime after they are sold out, cuz they never made any money off it so they are trying to get rid of it with the 50% off thing.. And yes we do take New and Used games all the time so check the disc before you buy them but u have 90 days on used stuff to get a full refund

I found good deals at Gamestop on used DVDs as well, including the limited "Bad Taste" SE and "Alice in Wonderland: SE" for $9.99, and a few WB Hammer titles for $6.99, since they didn't show up in their system at all and thus were marked $6.99. Good deals.

Since i have been working at my local eb i have gotten a few good deals... but missed a few too. Best one I have gotten is Mickey mouse treasures "In living color Vol 1"limited in tin. 13 bucks , 9 after discounts, Toy Story 1/2 for 8 dollars, Spiderman giftset (unopened) for free (buy 2 get one free), Band of brothers for 17 dollars.
Also got a bunch of others for a buck each, when it was an extra 2 dollars off the price ... got all the 2 and 3 dollar movies we had that day...
