Did Anyone See The Interview With Jeff Probst In EW About Survivor?
OMG! Jeff gives the dishiest details in the new EW, while ranking the nine previous seasons of Survivor. I couldn't imagine a TV host being so candid while still in the employ of a major TV show. He talks about details of the show he hated (like the Cataway switch that he lothed, and that the tiebreaker that cost Paschal the game got messed up), awkward moments from shows (Lex wanted to hit him when the tribes were mixed up in Season 3, Sue yelling at him during All-Stars), which finalists were total bores (winners Brian, Vecepia and Ethan, among others) and plenty of other bridges get burned. Let's just say that it's extremely candid (but no mention of his new hottie). He also alludes to some sort of terrible behavior from Johnny Fairplay at the Vanawatu wrap party that has resulted in Johnny being banned from any event Jeff attends (wonder what happened)
Anyway, keep an eye out for this one, Survivor fans. It's not up at the EW website yet, but it might be next week.

Now I wanna know what happened with Jonny Fairplay, who, to me, was the biggest Survivor idiot of all time. It has bothing to do with the whole dead grandmother thing. It was more that he was there to further his wrestling career rather than being there just to be on Survivor.

Anyway, if you read the article Probst sounds like a prima donna. I got the feeling he actually believes that he is the star of the show. It was somehting like Jonny Fairplay is banned from any event that I do. I am not going to take it anymore from him. Whatever - he sounds like an egomaniac. There was another part where he is complaining about the living conditions on some island and how he really was tired of doing the show and wanted to quit. WTF. Before Survivor YOU were the host of Music Jeopardy on VH1!! Asshat.

I read he has contacted WWE, but they have no interest.

Here's what Probst said about how they screwed up the Purple Rock tie-breaker in the Marquesas:
Here's how Probsts ranks the seasons:
Borneo (the original season)
Australia (the amazing cast season)
Pearl Islands (the most filled with characters season)
All-Stars (the most filled with egos season, he hated this season)
The Amazon (the most unpredictable season)
Vanuatu (the most personal season)
Africa (the dry season)
Marquesas (the boring season)
Thailand (the slimey season)
In the event of a Tribal Council tie, Survivors pull rocks out of a bag, and whoever pull the colored rock is eliminated. The way it's supposed to work is that once the tie is revealed, the people for whom votes have been cast and the person with immunity all become safe; the others have to pull rocks. We didn't realize that process works for all numbers expect for four. (With four people left, only one person is eligible to pull a rock since one has immunity and two have received voted.) I realized some was wrong about haflway though as Paschal, Neleh, and Kathy were all pulling their rocks out. Even if I had figured out exactly what was wrong, there would have been no way to correct it because we had already done it. Let me be clear - no rules were violated. It's just not what we meant to happen. And that's the truth.

I'm actually would be surprised if the producers allow contestants to go without water for any extended period of time, since dehydration can be dangerous. Be we all know the show is rigged, fixed, edited, etc.

Could somebody reword the thing about the rocks so an idiot (me) can understand it. I saw that season, but I cant remember what the issue was, and Probst's explanation is confusing me.

I don't get it either. I was bummed about the rock at first but in retrospect it was good. It forced a guy like Pappy to decide what he wanted more: To cling to his alliance or to risk leaving the game by chance. Anything that involved strategy if ok by me.

In All-Stars, the threat of the tie-break is what drove Jenna into booting off Rupert in spite of their game bond. That's what it's designed to do, motivate people into not getting into a tie-break situation and put yourself at risk for the boot.

Agreed. In my review of the All-Star DVD set I mentioned that. The only real strategic mistakes on the show were the oucasts (which made for some fun situations but betrayed the essence of the show) and giving Rupert the extra million. That was utter BS.

The reason it only works with 5 or more people is this. There would be 2 or more people to pull rocks. This would essentially make them make a decision about who they're voting for. If they decide to stick with who they voted for, then they have a chance to get booted.
Had they done it correctly, Jeff would have told Paschal that he either votes Neleh or get booted himself, but since it wouldn't be fair (when its 4 people), they had all 3 pick rocks.
Thats my best guess.
