Family Guy video game in the works

Looks like a Family Guy game is in the pipeline...

Family Guy Lives
Not only is the series back, but an official game is coming, too.

By David Adams
February 3, 2005 - Despite a production hiatus for the cult series Family Guy, the animated comedy thrives in DVD releases, licensed apparel, and now, an official videogame to be published under Take-Two Interactive's new 2K Games label.

The first Family Guy game, expected in 2006, is part of an agreement with Twentieth Century Fox granting Take-Two console, PC, and handheld video game rights to the franchise. The third-person action game will put players in the roles of Family Guy's main characters, including Stewie, Brian the Dog, and Peter himself.

"Take-Two has unparalleled experience in reaching what is the core Family Guy [demographic] and we are really excited to be collaborating with them on bringing the Griffins to the gaming community," said Peter Byrne of Fox Licensing and Merchandising.

"Family Guy" is set to re-launch as part of Fox's primetime line-up on May 1, along with creator Seth MacFarlane's new series, "American Dad."

For now, Take-Two is not unveiling targeted platforms or publisher details, but we'll be back with more on the Family Guy game as soon as new details emerge.

If it's as crazy and dirty as the show I'd probably buy it. If it ends up being like Simpsons Hit & Run with different characters then I'd pass for sure.

I really want to play as Chris and hear some of crazy stuff they would have Seth record.

I love the show, and I hope the game will be good. A lot of games like this aren't (Simpsons game, but I thought The Simsons Hit and Run was really good), but it could be great. Here's hoping

The show is hilarious, but funny doesn't really translate to a good game. Considering how long it took for the Simpsons to come up with even a decent game, I dont' have too much hope.

But, if they litter the game with new humor by the creators, then it'd make it worth playing. Though, in the end, I'd probably just be playing to see the funny bits.

what they have in mind actually sounds kind of crappy. it could be good if they made an adventure game with the license in the same vein of the leisure suit larry games (not the last one). that could be interesting.

Hit and Run WAS the best Simpsons game in a looong time but it wasn't all that creative. Not that many games these games are new ideas. I just thought Hit and Run got old real quick. The missions were boring and I soon grew tired of unlocking stupid items.

I was going to mention Leisure Suit Larry as a direction to go but I too thought of the most recent game and immediately pushed the whole thought out of my head.....with a icepick to the temple. They made a game about sex and horny college girls that was bad. How on earth do you screw up a combo like that when you have so many other LSL games as reference?

Unfortunately, the adventure game type that LSL has always been seems to be dead, save for a few standouts here and there. So, in their wisdom, they changed the format from point and click adventure to whatever you call the new one, boring minigames mixed with mediocre sex jokes I suppose. That Al Lowe, the man who created and made the bulk of the LSL games had nothing to do with the new one, was a bad idea to begin with. But what can you expect from a game that basically takes an old license and tries to make money off of it with a half assed game.

Reason why, I don't expect much from this one.

I love the show, but a game? Maybe it will be based on Peter Griffin presents The King and I. And you would get to kick the bad guys in the jewels.
