Damn. I'm sort of a Dorris Day fan so I might have to put some money away to buy this. I thought I was pretty much done with my big purchases for a while.

The extras would have been more expansive on this release but apparently Doris Day herself turned down the request from WB to participate in the extras. Hence why this is not a Signature Series set. A shame actually.

But, I am all over this release. Can't wait!

thats interesting....i wonder why she didn't want to talk about it....might not want us to see her as she is now....better to remember her in her youth...or she may have just wanted the cash, and they wouldn't give it to her....I think Liz Taylor is the only living person to get a signature series set, and that was just a rebox of titles already available....

Though I'll probably pick up this set, the Doris Day film I'm anxious to get on DVD is Teacher's Pet (Paramount, 1958).

Would like to pick up Calamity Jane....

What about By The Light Of The Silvery Moon and On Moonlight Bay??? It is amazing to me they can come out with a Doris Day box set and not even include one of these movies let alone mention them for possible future release.

It seems Doris Day isn't interested in her past efforts.
She has refuse various awards that were offer to her, like the AFI and a Horoanary Oscar.
She is busy in Carmel, CA with her Animal Shelter.
Plus, her son Terry passed away a couple of months ago.

Some good movies in this collection.

Paramount just announced that they'll be releasing Teacher's Pet and With Six You Get Eggroll on 4/19/2005. M.S.R.P. will be $14.98 each.

Anyone know if The Pajama Game is going to be an all-new version or simply a repackaged version of the existing disc? It'd be nice to have some decent extras on it. I have the current one, but I might upgrade for the new packaging alone.

I'm with you on that. But that's a Universal title, so it wouldn't be in a WHV boxed set. Universal is doing a much better job of releasing its older material, so hopefully it's just a matter of time.

from davis dvd on the doris day show

Silver-screen sweetheart Doris Day made her television acting debut headlining a heart-warming comedy series which ran for five successful years on CBS. MPI Home Video's The Doris Day Show: Season 1, due on June 28th, presents twenty-eight complete episodes from the 1968-69 season in new fullscreen transfers and Dolby Digital mono tracks. Also included in the four-disc set are wealth of rare and new bonus features, including: video interviews with actors Philip Brown and James Hampton, "A Word From Doris Day," Doris Day on an episode of "What's My Line?," a photo gallery, Doris Day film trailers and a preview of season 2. Retail is $39.98.

I thought there was a thread about the show, but i didn't find it...Linky?

Someone over at HTF got the set early; in response to the same question there, he replied, "Yes, Calamity and PJ Game appear to be the same transfers with the same small extras. I'd already gotten rid of the older DVDs, but it looks exactly the same to my eye, although the cover art is much nicer-looking on the new issues, plus no snappers." [post #17]
