Is Radha Mitchell the new it girl?

She seems to be in quite a few movies recently. I don't really care for her too much but everyone deserves 15 minutes or in her case 15 movies.

She's been getting steady work since 1998, and she's hardly crazy famous and getting all the plum roles. She's a decent actress that gets cast in a good number of films. I wouldn't really classify her as Hollywood's IT girl. I usually reserve that for someone who's suddenly famous and gets put in lots of plum roles all of a sudden like Emma Rossum. She's been working steadily for years, and most of her films are lower budget fare that most haven't even heard of.

Out of her filmography, only one of her films was even a big budget flick.

I thought she broke through with High Art (which was also hailed as a big comeback film for Ally Sheedy, thought that never quite happened either), but then I didn't see her for a long time. By the time I saw Phone Booth, I didn't even recognize her. (After that I caught Nobody's Baby and Everything Put Together on cable and DVD, and realized I had just missed her indie work in between.) She is beginning to break through now, though. Must have changed agents.

I like her. She has a very expressive face. High Art is still her best movie and performance IMO.

She very much looks like a co-worker of mine. I told her as such, we looked her up on IMDB together, and she felt quite flattered.

She's an actress who clearly get lots of work but is obscure enough to be able to walk around the local mall unnoticed.

To answer the original question: No. Simply being cast in movies doesn't make one an 'IT' person. Lots of people get cast in movies. There are countless number of people like Radha Mitchell who get cast in movies each year. And of the above list, her role isn't even that big in some of the movies.

I'm fairly confident that Scarlett Johanssen is the new "it" girl.

I've seen most of those movies too, but I still didn't recognize the name and probably couldn't pick her out of a lineup. I'm going to have to answer no to this thread.

Wow, she cleans up nicely. Just watched Pitch Black again last night and was thinking how she's kind of sexy, yet has a face like a catcher's mitt. Nice to see she's looking good these days. And I do believe I caught High Art on cable.

Scarlett JohanssOn is the new it girl. Always will be...

If someone told me to choose this "Radha" out of a line up...well...I couldn't do it.

I've seen all of those films except for the Woody Allen one, and had no idea who she is from reading the thread title. That's why I clicked on this thread. I gotta make sure that if there's a new "it" girl, I have to pretend I knew her before she became "it".
