Where The Buffalo Roam restored music track?

Where The Buffalo Roam is being released on Feb. 1, and I wonder if anyone has heard if the original songs from the film are on the dvd. It was released a couple of years ago, but with different songs than were in the movie. I understand it bombed because of this, so I'm hoping the songs were restored.

I've never seen this movie, and DDD has shipped out my copy already, so I doubt I'll get it by Tuesday. I'd be interested to know as well though.

This is good news.. I have been captivated by the idea of Bill Murray trying to play Hunter S. Thompson and have almost broke down and got the VHS from eBay many times because I read bad things of the old DVD. Looking forward to getting this hopefully with the original songs, would appear its like a 25th anniversary release.

I didn't even know this was coming out! It seems to be priced low ($10) so I hope it isn't a really crappy release. DDD lists it as being fullframe, but it also lists a snap case which (if the pic is correct) can't be.

Every other site is listing it as 1.85:1, so I'm gonna guess that DDD just has the wrong information up. It wouldn't be the first time.

I saw it in a store and can confirm that it's not a snapper. However, I didn't buy it because I wasn't sure whether the music was restored or not, and I don't want it if it isn't. (And, from what I understand of the reason the music was cut in the first place, I doubt they restored it.)

Anyone pick this up yet? Has the original music been restored? Is it 16X9 or full-frame? thanks

Hi Tacos. I'm still waiting to find out too. Our Best Buy didn't have it.

According to an Amazon post dated today, the Universal release of WTBR retains the same music track as the Anchor Bay release. That is, it does not have the original music. Too bad! This has been on my want list since the beginning of time.

Thanks Sonny! I 2 have wanted this forever. Anyhow, I will just rent it. Compare the performances between the 2 films and pat or not pat a person or 2 on the back. Thanks again dude.

I should be receiving this from DDD within the next few days. Having never seen it before, I guess I'll be pretty oblivious as to how much the music has changed. Kinda sucks that they changed the music (I haven't researched why they had to do this), but I guess I'll be none the wiser when I watch it.

According to the IMDb, they didn't pay the original artists before releasing the film. I tend to think that's an exaggeration, it seems more likely that they paid them for theatrical release but not video sales.

It's not that it's immediately obvious that they changed the songs, per se, so much as it's immediately obvious that the songs that are in the released version are not very good and don't help propel the movie the way it seems the old ones would. When I watched it for the first/only time, I was unaware of the changes, but I thought, "Wow, that soundtrack sure sucked." Then I found out why.

That's still in the movie. (As, I believe, are the Neil Young tracks.)
