how many shows could you give up that you really wouldn't miss?

are you getting tired of any of your current shows but continue to watch out of loyalty? how many could you dump that you really wouldn't miss? I'm beginning to wonder this about my current list of shows, starting with Trading Spaces. we continue to watch but just don't enjoy it as much as we used to.

Well I never thought I would say this but I've never missed an episode of ER since the day the pilot aired. I am about 3 weeks behind on the tivo right now. Just no desire to watch. This season has been awful. The only highlight so far, for me, was Ray Liotta. He should win an award for that performance. Truely amazing.

CSI: NY hit the scrap heap after 6 episodes. I really wanted to like it, especially with Sinese, but man it was dull.

Also just cancelled my season pass for Two & a Half Men, but only b/c 24 is on opposite of it.

I'll watch CSI:NY if I'm not doing anything else
I gave up on Joan of Arcadia about 4 episodes ago.

I was totally into both the OC, and JOan of Arcadio, but now I cannot stand either one of them.

Ultimately, an awful lot. I actually do miss a lot of TV just because I've forgotten about it. Battlestar Galactica is one I'd prefer not to though.

I tried watching Joey, but it just wasn't working.

I quit watching One Tree Hill this season. I watch enough shit already and this was just on during an already-crowded evening.

I only watch Crossing Jordan sporadically. Same w/ That 70s Show.

I still watch it consistently, but I could easily give up Las Vegas.

I'd have probably missed a few episodes of The Simpsons this season if it wasn't right before Arrested Development. I stil enjoy it despite its drop in quality, but if it were all alone on Sunday I'd probably blow it off more often.

I've kept watching That 70s Show out of habit, but I've missed some this season because of Lost and Smallville. Setting two tapes while watching one show as it airs is sort of a pain.

Could give up:
Simpsons
American Dreams
Crossing Jordan
Las Vegas
West Wing (?)
ER

Wouldn't want to give up:
Arrested Development
Gilmore Girls
NYPD Blue
Lost
Alias (?)
Joan of Arcadia

The (?) means that show's on the bubble and could possibly go either way depending on future episodes. Also a few I could conceivably give up watching weekly if I was able to watch the DVDs when they came out, like Arrested Development which I loved watching for the first time on DVD and now I've got to wait forever before seeing the next episode.

Alias (although the last ep was a little better), The Simpson's (watching the season DVDs shows you just how bad it's gotten), and Smallville (rarely see it-- like once this season).

At the beginning of the season, West Wing would have been on my list, but I've really enjoyed this season.

As far as shows I could take off my watch-list and not really miss them:

ER (watch out of habit, but haven't really gotten into it at all this year)
Las Vegas
CSI (even though I don't watch any of the spinoffs, I've still grown a bit tired of it)
That 70's Show (I watch it when I get around to it. More of these waiting on Tivo than anything else)
Listen Up (put in a SP at beginning of the season, and just haven't taken it out. Still watch it now and then though.)

Shows I already tried and gave up on:

Joey (general disinterest)
CSI: NY (general disinterest)
CSI: Miami (general disinterest)
Trading Spaces (burnout)
MXC: Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (burnout)
Crank Yankers (burnout)
King of Queens (Season Pass conflicts)

Shows I won't give up:

24
Alias
Lost
Shield
Arrested Development
Simpsons
Daily Show
Pardon The Interruption (except between end of football & start of baseball)
Amazing Race
Desperate Housewives
Nip/Tuck
Rescue Me
South Park

I still watch Will & Grace, but it wouldn't bother me if it was gone.

AMEN!

I'm assuming you mean shows I record, but wouldn't/sometimes DON'T even watch. I JUST went through my Season Passes last night so I know pretty well what I'd lose too.

Also could lose:
Bernie Mac
That 70's Show
Grounded for Life (continue to watch knowing it IS ending)
Rescue Me (expecting crap about that)
Committed
Joey
Curb Your Enthusiasm (expecting crap about that too)
Johnny Zero

Could NOT Lose:
24
House
ALIAS
LOST
Arrested Development
The Shield
Reno 911
Scrubs
South Park

Of the shows being currently aired, there's not a single one I couldn't give up. Of course, there's only two shows I watch right now - Monk and The West Wing.

House MD, I like .. but could go.

The Simpsons now.

The shows that I watch religously (24, Gilmore Girls, Arrested Devlopment, Lost, Alias, Scrubs) I'd rather not give up.

Shows I wouldn't mind losing:

CSI: Miami
Smallville
JAG
24
Cold Case
Stargate SG1
Stargate Atlantis

They're all shows I've watched since the beginning and only watch due to either mild interest, nothing else on, or loyalty. Sometimes a combo of the three.

I could give up Smallville, too, and have come really close to doing so over the last two seasons.

I could never give up Arrested Development.

Would prefer not to give up Amazing Race.

Everything else is disposable at this point.

I kept watching Joey hoping it would get better. To my surprise, it actually did.

I will never give up (unless they are canceled, and even after I'll get them on DVD or something):

American Dreams
24
Dead Like Me (Unfortunately this HAS been canceled until some good samaritan network picks it up again)
Desperate Housewives
Scrubs
Grounded For Life (This ones goin' too, but I loved it)
Hope & Faith (I like it because of Kelly Ripa)

I like Joey, 8 Simple Rules and I even watch The Apprentice (The only reality show I still watch), but those are the only shows that I wouldn't miss terribly if they ended today.

Usually, if stuff piles up on my Tivo for weeks and weeks without me watching it, it means my interest has waned.

For instance, the season finale (!) of Alias last year sat on my Tivo until the DVDs came out, when I finally broke down and watched it. That's how lackluster that show is to me now. I still watch it out of loyalty and the hope that it will turn around, so it's not a droppable show yet.

I'm beginning to think I'll drop Smallville. It, too, has a hefty backlog of eps on my Tivo. We usually watch it in marathons and enjoy it, but it's not a must-watch-immediately show like Lost is, and it's competing against it too. And I think the VCR is taping American Idol at that time too... looks like I'm waiting for reruns.

I'm really close to dropping the OC, with the so-far lackluster second season and with Survivor coming up...

Finally dropped Joan of Arcadia. It was a decent show, but I would keep missing episodes because I set my Tivo to only save 5, and it would keep overwriting. Which means I would go for months without watching.

Stuff I wouldn't drop:
Lost
Gilmore Girls
Arrested Development
Scrubs
PTI
Amazing Race

I'm getting close on both SMALLVILLE and LOST. Smallville seems to be repeating plots, and Lost is starting to enter that territory where too many questions and not enough answers makes it very frustrating to watch. I still like both shows quite a bit, but if I miss them during the week, I don't get terribly upset about it.

Now 24 and the new BATTLESTAR GALACTICA...those are probably the only two "must-sees" on my viewing list right now.
