Predator 2 new 2 disc SE observations

Picked this up yesterday (early UK import copy), and checked it out briefly.

Cannot really judge the DTS track until I have watched it again properly, but on first hearing there did not see to be a lot of rear speaker activity.

Pic looked ok, but need to watch it through.

But the docs/making of stuff look to be very dissapointing. The so called new retrospective doc is mainly a rehash of the main featurette that appeared on the previous edition, with only occasional snippets from a recent interview with Stephen Hopkins - no one else.

And the rest of the features just seem to use the same footage again.

Not listened to the comentaries, so cannot comment on them.

But it looks like though this may be a slight improvement over the last release, it is certainly far from the definitive edition.

u should word your thread better...from the looks of it, it seems that you got the "Predator" 2-disc original, not the new "Predator 2" SE

it would seem that both reviews contradict themselves. DVD Authority states same transfer as previous, while File states otherwise.

I wouldn't say that the reviews contradict themselves, although they do contradict each other. The screenshots and more detailed comments in the DVD File review would lead me to think their review is probably more on-target.

I'm debating wether or not I should pick this one up. Would you recomend a purchase to anyone who already owns the single disc release?

depends if you like extras...it seems it doesn't have much (the new one), but more than the previous. transfers and sound seem similar if not just a tad better on new, so it is a toss up depending on what you like in DVD's.
