Good songs for a wedding

I'm getting married in June and need to come up with some songs for the wedding. Any suggestions?

I requested the DJ play Downbound Train by Bruce Springsteen at a wedding once. Not a good idea.

"Thank You for Loving Me" by Bon Jovi would be a great first-dance song

Baby Got Back ?
Theme from The Odd Couple?
You want to shock the in-laws try any Nickleback song.
More conventional : Creed, Alter Bridge

Go for the non-conventional.

Want suggestions rent "The Wedding Singer".

I just DJ'd a friends wedding last August and we made a very detailed lsit of songs for the wedding. Unforunately they didn't play well with the crowd.

Luckily I put a BUNCH or DISCO and cheesy songs on my laptop computer and DJ'd from it.

Songs that you'd loathe to listen to are fun to dance to after you are drunk such as:

ANY MUSIC by THe Bee Gees- Jive Talking, More than a woman, Night Fever, Staying Alive

Miami Sound Machine - Conga

A lot fo Madonna like: Holiday, Vogue, Into the groove

K. C and The sunshine band - Boogie Man, Shake Your Booty, That's the Way i like it

Parliment - TEar the Roof, Flashnight, Knee Deep

Chic - Le Freak

Sister Sledge - We are Family

The B-52s - Love Shack , Rock Lobster, Party out of bounds

Blondi - Heart of Glass, Tide3 is high, Call me

Cameo - Word Up!, Candy, She's Strange

Midnight Start - Freak-a-zoid, No Parking on the dance floor

Cap'n and Tenielle - Love Will Keep Us Together

Cars - Let's Go, My Best Friend's Girl, You're all I've go tonight

I love the Night Life - Aliacia Bridges
I jsut want to be your everything - Andy Gibb

Believe you me, Disco and maybe 80's music is enjoyed by the older folks and the younger folks.

We still had several songs taht were MUST plays such as the first dance, the grooms suggestion and the last song.

Try to get them to be flexible and make sure you DEMAND they play the songs YOU want to hear.

Try "Runaway" by The Corrs for a nice song...

or take the Groucho route for a touch of humor and try "Love Stinks", ala The Wedding Singer.

The Medal Award Ceremony theme from Star Wars DOES make a good entrance theme at the reception, when the DJ announces the couple for the first time and they walk into the hall

Tony Bennett's version of Baby, Dream Your Dream is the perfect wedding song. back when I used to be a DJ, it always brought the house to tears.

Baby,
Dream Your Dream.
Close your eyes and try it.
Dream of furniture;
Dream that I can buy it.
That fancy bed you prayed for,
Not only bought but paid for.
Dream we sign the lease,
Leave a small deposit;
Three and one-half rooms
With a walking closet.
We'll ask the local Jet-set
To dine on our dinette-set
Right across the street,
There's a friendly bank.
You make a friendly loan,
And the bank says: "Thank you."
Ev'ry Saturday,
We'll spend all our money.
Join the P.T.A.;
They will love you, honey.
Life will be frozen peaches and cream.
Baby, dream Your Dream.

Bob Dylan - "Wedding Song"

I think it's off Planet Waves but my memory is fuzzy this morning.

Allman Bros - Whipping Post

I've been run down and I've been lied to
And I don't know why, I let that mean woman make me a fool
She took all my money, wrecks my new car
Now she's with one of my good time buddies
They're drinkin in some cross-town bar

Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel
Like I been tied to the whippin post
Tied to the whippin post, tied to the whippin post
Good Lord, I feel like I'm dying

My friends tell me, that I've been such a fool
But I had to stand by and take it baby, all for lovin you
Drown myself in sorrow as I look at what you've done.
But nothing seemed to change, the bad times stayed the same
And I can't run

REPEAT CHORUS

REPEAT CHORUS

these are the songs i used at our wedding: http://voltes5.spymac.net/wedding.html

it's a mixture of old and new and some are there because they'reour favorite songs (not necessarily deeply romantic in meaning - like everlong & wonderwall, which are the solo acoustic versions).
