When's the last time you and the audience CLAPPED at the end of the movie?

The last one: INCREDIBLES - there was unanimous customer satisfaction in my theater.

Most memorable - JAWS - after Brody finally kills the shark, everyone in my theater burst out in cheers and claps

Most unbelievable - EPISODE I - I sat with my jaw open in shock while many disillusioned watchers clapped in unison

Are you speaking of the film or the awesome trailer? I saw the trailer at The Uptown in D.C. the first night it was released. It was to play at the start of Meet Joe Black and the late show was Sold-Out, including the entire balcony. There were signs everywhere, on the front doors, the lobby proclaiming that refunds would not be given if you just walked out after the clip. There was an intense sense of excitement and anticipation. we were about to see the first brand-new Star Wars footage in 15 years. Then the lights finally dimmed and everyone broke into applause. Can you believe it? APPLAUSE FOR THE LIGHTS GOING DOWN. Then it started. Applause again at the Lucasfilm logo. Applause when the music burst and you see part of the pod race. Applause when Samuel Jackson appeared. Incredibly loud applause at Yoda. And near-deafening bursts of cheers when the title popped up at the end. When it was over everyone in the auditorium was ecstatic, recounting what they'd seen. I nearly shit my pants myself. Then about a fourth of the theatre got up and shuffled their way towards the exit.

The Last time was for Return of the King the first time was during Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. There were only a few people in the audience (this was the first weekend before the hype started) and people clapped after the first fight scene.

The last time I personally clapped with a crowd was at the first showing of LOTR: TT (missed the first show of ROTK). The last time most of the audience clapped that I didn't participate in was for the first show of Phantom of the Opera.

Just yesterday, when we went to see Meet The Fockers. I thought it was pretty good, but not applause-worthy. Sounded like the rest of the audience disagreed with me though.

The most memorable in recent years was for the very first showing of CHICAGO at the Ziegfeld Theater. Keep in mind, it was a very pro-musical New York audience - but not only was there sustained applause through the closing credits, most of the musical numbers during the film also received applause.

In regards to RoTK....

....The audience I saw the movie with actually clapped loudly several times in the movie!

Of course, when the movie ended the audience cheered, and the cheering got louder during the closing credits--

Spoiler:
--when they showed drawings of the main characters as done by Alan Lee.

Clap? Are you serious? If so then never, because that's kinda stupid.

It happens after every movie at my local theater. Then again, it is a really really low-budget theater and that is the only way to make the lights come back on.

well back when i could still score tickets to free advanced screenings of movies....I would see audiences clap very often....

last time I saw a regular paying audience clap at the end of a movie was opening day of Fahrenheit 9/11. I was surprised first of all because it was a totally sold out matinee out in the suburbs...and I was not expecting that...and there was lots of laughing and clapping through the movie, but at the end the whole place was practically cheering....loudest clapping i've ever heard in a theater, and it wasn't even a very large one....more of a medium number of seats.

The last time I remember was for the first XMen..............but it was mostly the nerds who were clapping throughout the movie anyway.

recently, while watching Kung Fu Hustle.

not many clapped though, but I think those who watched Stephen Chow for the first time, were amazed.

At the end of "Shalll we dance?" it was the first big buget film that was ever filmed in our city so we were really excited when it came out.

I just saw, "Meet the Fockers" last week and the majority of the audience clapped at the end. I was just like ... The actors and crews aren't in the theater, they can't hear you clapping.

I've seen it happen quite a bit.
Episode I
Titanic
Saving Pvt. Ryan

Even Contact had some applause.

Most recently, Ray. One woman went crazy in the crowd during "The mess around" performance.
