let us hope they've fixed the flagging problem with the "shot-on-tape" episodes from season 2. I remember reading that some (or perhaps all six) of the videotaped episodes were flagged incorrectly on previous DVD releases, making them look "film-like".

it seems with all the effort they have put into the first release that this should be corrected. Does anyone have info on what the master source was for the dvd....the screenshots in the review are great, but doesn't exactly say what the diffrence is.

Great Thread!

I don't suppose anyone knows if J. Michael Straczynski is going to be doing writer commentary on his episodes for Twilight Zone (1985) in Seasons 2 and 3? His commentaries are great from B5.

Does anyone know if the extras that were included on the 40 disc version are packaged in the new season set version?

Were there any extras? It's been a while since I've watched them... but I just remember some text screens from the guy who wrote the companion book. Was there something else I'm forgetting?

Well, I know for sure on one of the discs was a ~20 minute interview with Mike Wallace and Rod Serling, it came out right around the time Twilight Zone was beginning, it was pretty interesting. I'm not sure about the extras on the other discs.

Edit: Mike Wallace not Douglas

The only thing I remember from the original release is that Mike Wallace interview, and it's just on the two "Treasures" discs.

I want the ten minutes of my life back trying to determine which disc had an interview with Mike DOUGLAS. I'm glad you updated your post.

I'm pretty sure that over the course of the five seasons, all the extras that were included previously will be included again. The opening video for the menu even imports the old opening from the Columbia House VHS tapes -- an opening which I've always loved and glad to see on the new DVDs. I'm hoping that "Submitted for Your Approval" will make its way as an extra again on subsequent season sets.

Do any of the episodes in the season one set contain the original commercial bumpers? I liked those, had a slightly "animated" title card accompanied by a "spooky" musical sting.

Also, I assume the ending credits are the "clean" versions, not the originally aired versions with sponsor products includes (a print of "Occurrance at Owl Creek Bridge" on an old no-name VHS includes the "sponsor" version).

Also, are the "next" week previews contained within the episode (where they belong), or are they all gathered into some sort of "extras" section? I feel they should be contained within the episode, as intended, but I don't guess that would be a dealbreaker.

Image's web site lists a Mike Wallace interview w/ Serling among the S2 extras, so I assume it's the same one that was on the previous release.

Are the Serling lectures really audio-only? The LD collections had video clips. The transfer is somewhat primitive (mid-70s video), maybe that's why they were left off the DVD. But very cool stuff. It looked like there were only about 10-15 kids in the room. What a treat that would have been!

mythmaker, ALL the episodes include the commercial bumpers as you've described and MOST -- but not ALL -- contain the Rod Serling pitch for "Next Week" contained within the body of the episode itself, exactly where it should be. It's as though we've come back from a commercial and there is Rod telling us about next week's episode and that is followed by the closing credits (which ARE indeed "clean").

a blurb about the Twilight Zone Movie at The bits

Adam's 12 and America's Most Wanted: the full article

Twilight Zone: The Movie - Of all the movies on this list, this is the one I like least. But it has been very conspicuous in its absence on DVD. Perhaps because any special features would have to deal head-on with the on-set accident that claimed the lives of Vic Morrow and two young children. More likely it's because the rights to the Twilight Zone name have gone through many hands since Warner released this movie back in 1983. Flawed though it is, I'd still love to revisit it on disc. George Miller's "Nightmare At 20,000 Feet" and Joe Dante's "It's A Good Life" remain vivid in my memory all this year's later. And who can forget John Landis' prologue with Dan Aykroyd and Albert Brooks? You wanna see something really scary? Yes. Yes, I would.

Just want to make sure will they release all of these on Blu-Ray or is this really the definitive version?

Is season 4 the season they aired the 1 hour shows?

I thought they did this for the 5th season which I presume is the final season of the series.
