Caesars 24/7 - 1/10/05
Starts tonight on the A&E network. Seems to be of the same vein that Discovery Channel's American Casino was. Reality TV on one of Vegas' most famous casinos.
Here's the promo for the show: http://www.aetv.com/caesars247/
Couple good lookin girls.
Anyone going to watch this?

Well I watched this and wasn't that impressed. I'll prob always tune if I remember, since I like vegas related shows.. but wasn't anything to exciting.
That was pretty amazing about the guy hitting the million, then a little while later hitting the 75k.
Also, what's the story with that woman, she really a singer, she couldn't sing at all, my ears were bleeding.

She used to be an investment banker so she has/had a lot of money, anyone with a bunch of money can record a song and get it played, doesn't even have to be good (like many things on radio now)

To me it seems like the middle ground between "The Casino" and "American Casino". It's not quite as staged/scripted as The Casino, it seems more like The Real World in that they find screwed up people and follow them. There's a lot of focus on the guests, which is boring to me. There's some of that behind the daily operations stuff that American Casino has, but it's not quite as in depth. There's less of the "Today-we-will-be-having-a-pool-party. I-hope-it-is-a-success-and-I-am-very-excited" interviews too. I'm still holding out judgement, it could go either way.

I agree. Athough I, too, prefer American Casino, I did find this somewhat entertaining and will continue to watch for now.
How about that terminal guy? WOW! Lucky, but unlucky.

I caught this last night despite my disdain for the reality genre. It's Vegas, so I had to watch. Not bad. I'll probably watch it again next week.
Down $60,000? Man, I felt sick to my stomach when I was down $400 last summer.

Yeah, I have to rate American Casino an A- and this show probably a solid B.
My gripe with American Casino is that it has entirely too many scripted interviews like BabiG mentions above. That gets entirely old. However, the beauty of that show is watching the daily operations take place. How plans and strategic moves come together in a vegas resort is interesting to watch.
Caesars 24/7 isn't bad, but I think it has a little too much editing. This was especially noticeable during the roulette scenes. The slow-mo crap while it was going towards the single-zero was irritating. However, it does more than American Casino does in following real people (gamblers, dealers, etc.) and gives more of an insight on some of the crazier things that go on inside a casino.
It's a decent show so far and if you enjoy anything related to Vegas, this is probably worth a watch. It's replayed several times a week, so if you miss an episode you can always catch it another time.

As a side note, how anyone could spend 13 hours at a freakin' roulette table is beyond me. I play in poker tournaments, I gamble on sports, and while I don't like the odds, I can see how others have fun throwing their money away on craps; but roulette's just a simple random game of chance. You may as well flip a coin for 13 hours, and every 32 flips or so punch yourself in the face. How is that even fun? I understand how gamblers get sucked into things, but there have to be countless better ways to wager money over the longterm than standing next to a spinning wheel until you pass out.
Oh, and what a terrible song.

Das --
When I first turned 21, I ended up on a Roulette table in Reno. Stayed there for 10 hours, all the way til 9 am the next morning. Why did I do it? Because I was winning. On a $.25 chip table, I left with $450 profit. I'll do anything even if its mind-numbingly boring if it is paying for me. Up to and including reading your posts.
Also, the roulette wheel is a (somewhat) safe way to earn quality comps. By placing $10 on First 12 and $15 on 19-36, you:
* Stand a 78.9% chance of winning $5
* Stand a 22.1% chance of losing $25
* Stand a 100% chance of being rated as a $25/spin player
Only problem comes when that 22.1% comes up 4 out of 8 spins.
I have had a few good successes using this method.

I've played roulette only a few times but the best thing about it is that those tables seem to usually have a disproportionate amount of hot chicks around it. Yes, gaming table with little thought required = magnet for hot chicks.

You're right about comps and ease, and while I'd never be caught dead playing roulette, I understand why someone else would enjoy it for a limited period of time. However ... 13 hours (or 10)! Damn.

I hang around the keno bar for the same reason but I get nothing but old ladies.

Especially when the dumb bitch on the show kept betting max on 0. You either have to be clairvoyant or an idiot to bet numbers straight up continuously on roulette.

Zero was her number but it looked like she was also betting A LOT of other numbers so the net pay wasn't that high when she did win (unless she hit the max bet zero).
My only strategy is to pick out a block of numbers in a row on the wheel and bet those (4-5 numbers). Sometimes you get a dealer that spins the ball the same way and then it may land in a certain area more frequently.
Edit: Das Monkey regarding the bet on 10, I am sure that was editing. I think she was consistently betting on 10 and that was the first time she won a bet of that size.
