Question for owners of tv show dvds for Homicide: Life on the Street AND/OR L Word

Question for owners of tv show dvds for Homicide: Life on the Street AND/OR L Word
I got the first 4 sets of Homicide (on SuburbanCowboy's recommendation) as well as L Word 1st season during the DDD sale in November.
I noticed that all the boxes lacked any mention of CC/subtitles so I really really need to know if they are or are not captioned and or subtitled.
Considering that Homicide comes from A & E which has a poor track record (I think only Prisoner and Monty Python have been captioned in their releases) I'm not too surprised but L Word from Showtime? They captioned Queer As Folk (thank god) ... why not L Word??!!??
Anyways, I need someone to check for me before I open them up or else it's back to DDD they go since if I can't watch 'em, ain't no point in owning them.

The L Word has closed captions, but I don't believe it has subtitles.

At least I can watch L Word. Homicide was on a recommendation and I've heard enough to be sorry that A & E are bastards.
